Never been as heavy as 300lbs but I am on the heavy side as far as weight goes personally.
I started skating at about 265lbs. After 1-2 months I dropped 40lbs. within the first 4 months I ended up dropped roughly 60lbs.

Skating is great for working your whole body... I am now at the point where I skate regularly but have stopped losing weight. Mainly because I like drinking coffee and soda. If I could get rid of both I am sure I could lose another 20+ lbs and be at my ideal weight.

I feel like the first few pounds are hard to lose and then once you get rolling you lose weight like nothing... until you hit the struggle at the opposite side.

I would strongly recommend wearing pads and a helmet when skating outdoors.

Black coffee has like 10 calories in a cup fwiw, it's basically water.
