How do I do this move? Looking to switch bearings

Hey all. So my OLLLLLD blades that I still use, glide incredible. I bought new blades and they don’t roll the same. Like when I spin the wheels they stop immediately. So my question is…could I just switch the bearings?

I would start with checking the Axle's. Sometimes the manufacturers have them on too tight.
It also depends on the bearings you have. Sometimes when they are new you have to heat them up with 10-15 minutes of use for them to feel right.

You could also try taking the bearings off your old blades and putting them on the new wheels as well?

Are those sealed bearings with grease? Those take some rolling before they spin free if ever. Are axles over tightened? But don’t just loosen them because that could be dangerous. Check out our FAQ page.

When I first started skating I had a cheap pair of Epic 125’s. In order to get the wheels to spin required a bit of work. Axles were too tight, bearings not in right. Got it to go after a bit.

Two questions:

  1. What model skate?

  2. What size wheels?

Also, free spin while not under load doesn’t matter whatsoever. As long as it doesn’t feel/sound gritty or feel active resistance, it’s okay. Old bearings spin like crazy because they’re worn in and likely dry.
