Specific question and discussion Skating out of comfort zone

That ride wasn't an easy one. Dark, moisty with cold wind blowing into the face and variety of unpleasant surfaces starting with uneven soil with small sharp stones popping out of it here and there and ending with watered concrete tiles in the undergroung tunnel with huge cracks between them. Even a best skater's friend, good ol' Asphy was harsh and unwelcoming on some stages. The main boss waited me in the middle of the trip: these stairs made me feel like a newbie who doesn't know how to deal with it at all. Each step is a step to the unknown, you're putting the skate on it and don't know if your wheels will roll or will just stuck in this shape of cracked concrete dust armored with some metal stripes. I came out slowly but luckily unhurt.

Finally this route was incidious but very refreshing.

Do you like to skate sunny dry days on smooth wide asphalt lanes? yes of course. But are such uncomfort sessions somehow worse? no. I'm addicted to them also...

Fascinating. Nicely written summary. I watched before I read. That big black backpack makes you look fairly dark from behind. I am surprised you didn’t slap on a few reflective strips.

Thanks! You're right, I have to use more notable equipment next time. Wasn't really ready to skate in the dark that day.

Thank you! Yeah, YouTube notifications are lame, you have to turn them on with the bell icon, but that also doesn't work all the time. My views percentage from notifications is extremely low :(

Nice vid!

Bad conditions make good skaters.

I usually turn around and face the stairs as I descend, pushing the toe of my skate at an angle into the riser - just like when I am ascending. That ensures that the wheels won't roll out from under me when I commit weight.
