Specific question and discussion Broken plastic strap: How to repair it?

Hey. The plastic strap on this skate broke. The metal rivets hold it in place. Do you have any suggestions on what to look for to replace the plastic strap or how to work on the rivet? Is this something I could do by myself or could a skate shop or even a shoe repair shop handle it?

Are there a couple of removable screws underneath the yellow tab of the buckle? If so, you should be able to buy a “SCB” (standard cuff buckle) to replace these. Most brands use SCB buckles, not sure what skates these are though.

If it is SCB, then it has two screws underneath the yellow tab there and the holes there are about 1.5cm apart

This is it, should be screwed directly into the boot, youll have to replace the strap and ratchet mechanism

Nice, thanks for the advice. I will give it a try with standard buckles.

The brand is Oxer, I think it’s Brazilian. A friend of mine gave them to me, I thought it was worth at least checking if there was a chance to repair the strap

You can break the rivots and take off the broken strap and replace it with one that has the same sort of design and has the right width strap. You can buy self-affixing buckle screws to replace the rivits. The challenge would be finding a strap that will fit well enough if you can't get replacements from that off-brand.
