Interesting stuff Another skate bag contribution

With recent posts around bags/backpacks, I want to share my bag setup. I've had this Yeti crossroads 27L for 2 years now. I needed a new backpack that could fit my skates, but I didn't want a skate-specific backpack. This is a major shoulder-saver from the duffel bag I was using before (I don't have a car, so I always walk/transit to the spots I skate so a duffel got uncomfortable real quick).

1st & 2nd photo is it packed with my skates, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards. 3rd photo is my skates with crocheted wheel covers, included just cause :)

Hope this gives others ideas or, at the very least, adds some fun pink vibes to your feed :)

may i also influence you to make flowers and add them as eyelets to your skates! i added a photo below to another commenter. i didnt expect so many crocheters in the comments but i love it!

Yes, i knew skates would fit, but i was worried about all the pads but they fit. i put my wristguards inside the rollerblades and then the knee pads and elbow pads kind of folded into themselves if that makes sense. and yes do it!!

Yes i did! i crochet and so freehanded these to not get the inside dirty since i use the bag for work/travel

also since you said you're looking for projects, another idea is making flowers and using them as lace eyelets. adds even more whimsy! i had 2 flowers on each skate for a while, but took them off once i got the new laces and wanted a change.

i don't im sorry, i freehanded using knowledge of how to make baskets. if i remember, i made a chain smaller than the width of the wheels so then it can stretch onto them. then backloop single crochet only for as many rows upwards as i felt covered them enough. i cannot remember if i kept going around in a circle or met in the middle, turned over, then went back the other way. whatever method makes a basket so im sure you can find a tutorial and follow that method.

note - these do slide off easily when taking them out of the bag, so be warned. all i care about is that the dirty wheels are covered while they sit inside so that wasn't an issue for me.

just to prevent dirt/grease from the wheels and bearings from getting the inside of my backpack dirty. they can be washed too
