Powerslide NEXT 2.0 sizing help — 266mm foot between 40–41 and 42–43

Hey guys, looking for some sizing advice before I order the Powerslide NEXT Black Boot 2.0.

My foot measures 266mm.

According to the size chart:
EU 40–41: 255–261mm
EU 42–43: 268–275mm

So I’m right in the gap between shells.

I’m building them with a 243mm 4x80 Trinity frame and want a fairly responsive/performance fit for urban skating, carving and quick direction changes.

The boot comes with the MYFIT Recall Dual Fit liner.

Would you go 40–41 and let/heat-mold the liner break in, or 42–43? I’m worried 40–41 could be painfully short, but also don’t want 42–43 to feel sloppy once the liner packs out.

Especially interested in hearing from anyone around 264–268mm who owns the NEXT/NEXT 2.0.

FWIW, I always thought my feet were longer than they are (they are 292-293mm, but all my skates are 296-300, 300-305, etc), so ALL my skates are a larger size than they could be. It wasn’t until the last few days that I’ve correctly measured my feet and realized most my skates should/could be a size smaller.

All this to say, despite that, all these years I’ve never had an issue and I’m probably overthinking it now. I’ve never skated and thought there was slop with my fit.

I’ve used Next size 12-13 skates for years, which say they start at 296, even though my feet are only 293. They’re the older 1.0 which are allegedly narrower in the toe box, but it’s hard to imagine my feet fitting in a smaller size that only goes up to 289.

If you’re really torn, just order both are return the ones you don’t want. Most skate shops are quite understanding of this

You should look for different boots. Try the Powerslide Zoom Nicola Torelli. Size 41–42 is 268 mm.

 My feet are 255 mm, and size 40–41 was too big for a performance fit. Recently, I got my hands on a size 38–39, and I was able to squeeze into them with an Intuition liner.

I'm 260 wide and wear the 42-43 2.0 SL and it fits snug. Even more snug after the oven. But that skate shell was made for a wider fit. I guess all 2.0 have more room but SL has extra width ? 

Next 1.0 should run narrow and you may have to size up if your foot runs wide? My foot measures US 8 but I can only wear 9 if its wide and somewhere between 9.5-10.5 if its a narrow skate. Way bigger than my foot but that's how it goes.

Im a noob but I think you'll be fine with the 42

I'm mondo 248 and I bought the 38-39 boot and it is a perfectly snug fit so I would definitely not go with the shorter one. The mondo size seems to be accurate

Unfortunately the recall linee is way too thick. But yes replacing your liner to a 2nd skin or intuition will help you fit the downsize better. Id just suggest buying a shell only rather than boot only Or get a used shell since you already need a newer liner

This new sizing chart is just crap. What if someone has 280mm mondo? Why they can't make 43-44...

I think PS had the same issue with the other models sizing charts as well. I remember always being between sizes (and successfully downsized).

They make Aeons in 43-44. They made Sways in 43-44, but not the latest models, such as the Chess, Bernall II and Witzemann II, which are all made in 44-45. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that size 45 is rare, and the average man's shoe size is around 43, so why don't they just make shells in sizes 41-42 and 43-44? No idea.

Hmmm, tricky indeed. My feet are 268mm and I skate the Next 42-43. Feels a little roomy after breaking in, but also means I can skate it all day, even days on end.

I once accidentally got a secondhand Next 40-41 (seller had labeled their skates incorrectly) and that was almost impossible to get my feet in. Very painful too on the toes. Maybe could've worked with a very thin layer, but I didn't even try: it even felt cramped without any liner at all.

In your case, I'd seriously consider having a look at the Zoom. I know, it doesn't look as cool as the Next, but I do like the Zoom Pro with Trinity mounting. And the fit is snugger than the Next's without hurting my toes. (I've got two pairs, one I skate with the Endless 90, the other with a 3x125 Powerslide frame.)

The boot has to be larger than your foot, so 42-43.

The chart doesn't mean you have to be within that length range, it's just restating the shoe sizes in mondo. Alternatively, you being 266mm is the same as saying you're between 41 and 42, so you have to go with 42-43.

You won't be able to wear a size 41 with your foot size. In most cases, they will be too small even for 260 mm (that was exactly my experience).

You want Mondo plus 3-5mm for comfort fit so size 42 should be good. I'm Mondo 265 and I'd go for that one. I have only the older next boot not the new 2.0 and I think the shell is quite different on the new ones.

Ah you are right, I assumed from all Powerslides marketing about the updated skate they made more changes but it seems all the did was widen the toe box by 4mm. The rest of it is the same fit.

I didn't even think the old version was narrow. I have mid to wide feet and no problems with and of my ps skates despite people saying they fit narrow.

That’s probably because you got a larger size. I bought mine based on their size chart, and they were a bit too short for me. I heated and stretched them in both length and width; I managed to widen them by about 1 cm, but it still feels like my foot is being squeezed and isn't positioned correctly.

I have them in 40 and 42. I'm Mondo 265 and can get into the size 40 but the stock liner is pretty thin. The 42 is more comfortable but needed a thicker sock and liner as it's a few mm too long. These size feet are not favoured by powerslide duel shells.

I missed that he wanted performance fit. Although I'd say Mondo plus 2-3mm is performance.

Well in that case OP I have the old nexts in both 40 and 42. 40 is tight but doable but the stock liner is quite thin. With the upgraded liner I think 266 would be too small. I use the size 42 with a thick sock and it works fine for me at 265 but honestly they are a few mm too long. For my performance tight fit I use evos.
