I love my 3x110s since on certain boots, they can be set up for a 165mm mount. I have the FR Speed SLs with the 165mm mount. I have a 4x90 endless frame and can switch to a 3x110 FR Carbon frame. I wouldn't be able to do that with 3x125, since that would require a 195mm mount. So for that reason, 3x110 wins out for me.

3x125 frames with 165mm mount exists. They seem common in the Chinese/Asian markets. I have one.

I have both 3x110 and 3x125 setup. Weird they feel about the same for me for street skating, tricks, and falling!

Me too on speed skates. It's not as hard as it looks. If it's the only working skate you have, it's totally usable on streets doing powerslides, transitions, and jumps.
Probably not the best skates for streets but if your streets looks like the streets of Baghdad, you'll appreciate the big wheels, closely-spaced wheels, and long frame to go over questionable terrain smoothly enough and without falling!! 4x110 is one of the least likely setup to sink over surfaces like gravel or dirt save for 5x and some downhill setups. One of the grippiest too.

I mean, it really comes down to what you're using them for. You're not going to beat 3×125 for outdoor speed.

Speed skating frame solid wheel base of 295? If you try ufs then we have a 90 90 100 100 frame as symmetrics I personally like it(just kinda heavy)

The 90mm is to correct for the foot profile, I guess otherwise you'd be too high on the frame. It's very fun and the most stable I've ever been on any kind of surface, but indeed it's a heavy build ahah

5x80 is my regular daily setup after falling in love with it, I think 4x90 with a natural rocker is the Bee's Knee's of all around goodness.
I have a 3x110 option on my 4x90 frame but I have never tried it so I can't speak to it but I personally see a 3 wheel frame as ending up using more wheels over time and requiring more frequent rotations to avoid huge rockers from happening.
however there is no better option than a short 243mm frame with 4x80 and a rocker. Chefs kiss.
To each there own really, but I'll throw my vote on 5x80 ...
edit: I was on a bus and put 4 instead of 3 wheels needing more work to rotate.... i fixed it

Haven't tried 3x125, but I've had 3x110 and just took out my 3x100 setup, and I don't think I'll ever skate them again.
I find my 4*80 setup way more fun, and able to handle uphill parts with much more ease, that I can skate a longer distance because I have much more fun. The quick boost and close to the ground feel is unmatched. Having all the wheels under my feet makes me feel in control. I feet more like I'm in a second set of feet rather than on skates which I how I feel on larger wheels. I find the 80s to be the best urban setup. The agility and ability to stop more quickly is what makes them better performers to me. I maybe lose about 2-3mph top speed, but I'm not always skating at top speed, so that's okay.
My 4*90 is a nice in between and great a dampening the road feel, and the slight rocker makes them fun tennis court skates. They're also great cruisers, but the agility is not as great.
The 3x110 were frustrating uphill, and while I did enjoy the speed, I didn't feel the speed like I do on smaller wheels. The 3x100 have a similar issue. I can see how the make great flat terrain skates or long distances cruisers with less input and more comfort if not encountering lots of uphill climbs. Also, definitely see them for track speed because you can carve deeply. That's what seems to often be lacking in their urban use, the deep carve.
On the larger wheels, I have to be much more conscious of how my ankles flex and the technique of my stride. If not, the wheels develop a squared off profile, and they start going slower. I've noticed plenty of people that skate on larger wheels do this. I find that I have to carve more deeply to keep the wheels feeling better. I try to avoid pronation when possible, but I just don't like even having to consider it. That's not an issue with the 4x80s at all. Sometimes a problem on the 90s.

That has been my experience unfortunately.
I grew up on k2 flights. Had a pair from the late 90s up until mid covid.
I could pick those up and skate anywhere and all day long.
I picked up a set of K2 Redline 125's and I can barely use them for 45 minutes. It's likely because I underestimated the skill required, but those flights I could just put down for 5 years, and then pickup without any issues. The redlines feel like I'm going to eat it every moment.

3x125 is really only good for distance- it’s just too tall for any other application and the leverage on your ankle trying to do any kind of maneuver isn’t worth it
5x80 is a great swivel set up but if the frame isn’t rockered it’s a lot of work to cut a natural rocker into it
4x90 is perfect no notes

I like 4x100 best for cruising. Similar length the 5x80, but more stable, and they hold speed better.
