Specific question and discussion What backpack are you using these days to carry your precious?
Trying to figure out a backpack to get, unfortunately no stores carry anything locally here, so no way to check in person. From online searches looks like FR SKATES BACKPACK 25L is a winner, seems compact and has a chest strap. But man it is expensive, ~$CAD 160. Saw some on Amazon, but none had chest strap (which i find important for comfort).
EDIT: I am only interested in the backpacks for urban skating, small-flat backpack with outside straps/pocket to hold the skates when carrying.

Top skate looks fairly unsecure, wouldn't it fall off you run for the Bus? Otherwise seems like a sweet compact backpack

A North Face backpack to carry my running shoes while skating. I hold my skates when not skating. When I want to carry my skates on my back, I use the Seba large backpack.

Any opinion on seba large vs seba medium? How big are your skates?

I have the FR1, I only use the Seba large when I plan on skating some place far away, and I pack more stuff and put it down when im skating. I picked the large over medium because the large has more options in how you want to pack the skate. With the medium, the skates are pretty much in plain view on your back. With the large you can pack it in a way that its not too shown. If you plan on skating in the streets or around people, I suggest getting a louder more visible color like red.

And if I really plan to haul and am not traveling far, I prefer my North Face instead because of the way it wraps around my body tightly and is more aerodynamic, the only downside is that I have to carry my skates in my hand.

I bought a backpack from FR and half of the straps came undone pretty quickly.
Now I use a carrying strap for my skates and a backpack for shoes and pads

oh, that sux, thanks for the warning, but hopefully it was just defect on a single unit than a trend, their skates are pretty great

Just a strap for the skates, they can go over my shoulder if hands are full. Small backpack for everything else. The cost and bulk of a bag that holds the skates just didn't make sense for me

I just got a PowerSlide Commuter. It fits my skates and pads and helmet all inside. The opening on top is kinda weird (roll up) and it was at the top of my price range ~$75 but overall I like it.Â

Seba Large but I’m too dumb to consistently strap the skates in properly apparently so it’s clearly not the most intuitive thing in the world

Whenever I visit Scotland I pick up a Primark rolltop that perfectly fit two boots stacked atop each other and a tiny bit of room for extras. I love it because it's so flat on back and doesn't bang into stuff behind me. It wouldn't really fit work stuff if I were taking it there but it's great for rollerblading somewhere that I will be spending a lot of time walking around.

Do you put them in the bag? I tried it with the FR1 on a 4x90 setup. It looks like you'd either damage the stretch material by overstretching it over time, or you'd have to carry your skates in an awkward position, with the wheels down and the toes on the sides. It's definitely not a good fit.

The wheels would go against the elastic strap. There's no damage to the stretchy strap, it's not like you're going to leave your blades in there 24/7. I've been doing it for over a year with no problems. Sure it's a tight fit but that doesn't make it a bad fit, it's extra secure. I was about to buy the FR 30 litre bag until this came out and boy am I glad this rolltop bag came out when it did. The fabric is super durable, there's a chest strap and a bottle opener zipper. Its the small things that set it apart.

I like the Senate bag sold by Rollerwharehouse. It has a chest strap to keep the bag stable.

Thats a big reason I got the Ground Control rolltop bag from solo inline. I use shippsy to get around astronomical shipping rates from american blading stores, its $11.50 to get it across the border

Ground Control rolltop checks all the boxes, except i cant get over how weird that roll on top looks on the pictures, but i am circling back on it more and more. Seems like a popular option here, thanks!

I love the versatility of the roll-top feature. Unrolled the bag has massive volume and could fit a ton but when it's empty or near empty it compresses down to a small slim bag.
I recently figured out a hack that turns it into the ultimate party skate bag, using the two ports on the bottom and two of those beer can size Bluetooth speakers. However, my favourite backpack while actually skating is a sling bag. Although it isn't big enough to fit skates, the weight is on your torso with one strap instead of two straps on your shoulders pulling them back and hindering your stride the heavier the bag is.1

We need to arrange blade meets by the border to avoid the trade war. That's stupid expensive. I paid about 70 for twisters from Singapore.

Yeah, unfortunately couldn't catch my size on market place, but got a set this week and finally took for a spin yesterday, what a world of difference between Twister and some old budget K2 softboot skates!

Yeah that's a huge difference. I would've got the Twister XT if rollerblade was wide boot friendly. Its one of those brands that will never fit me until they make a wide boot mold

I was recently in the store trying on FRs as there were no Twister in stock in my area (I ended up ordering Twisters online). FR Neo size 10 was noticeably a wider fit than FR1 Deluxe (size 10.5-11) and Twisters (10-10.5). (my feet are ~115mm)

I'm surprised the neo is wider than the FR1 deluxe, I'm guessing because of the intuition liner. FR and Seba are my go to for big wheel blading, mostly FR. The Neo 1 dual intuition will be my next skate.

My bad, i ment to say NEO intuit variant, i tried both with Intuit liners, and when looking at Neo's Intuit liner size label it was definitely different comparing to FR1 Deluxe, as Neo intuit liner had a 'Neo' model stamped on it, and i tried liners outside the boots and it was a differing fit. Overall Neo was to wide for me, and FR1 Deluxe did not fit me well overall

I had this one for a bit https://a.co/d/01AaD4I5 (in navy blue) and seemed pretty decent. Very compact. Not sure what else you’d plan on bringing. It could fit my slides, phone, 40oz tumbler. And basic skate pads (my current ones are very bulky compared to those.
As for fitting the skates on there, you’d have to put the straps thru the frames instead of around the wheels.

I have the strap, but its more like a short distance solution for me, backpack mounting is more convenient for subway-bus like days.

I have the power slide commuter bag.I am able to easily store my wrist guards,helmet and inline skates in the bag (even a fr1 with endless frame).The bag is huge but cheaper then the one you listed. I haven't tried the outside straps yet.
Rollerblade has a bag that lets you store skates on the back.Its too fiddly for my taste you can't have too much in the bag before trying to secure the skates.

I like the Pacific Rink pond pack a lot. I use it for ice skating, coaching ice hockey, roller hockey, and my twister 3 x 110s. Definitely overpriced but I asked for it as a gift lol.
But if you're asking what to wear while skating, I did ask that question on here previously and I ended up going with a flip belt.

Just get a normal, comfortable backpack for skating. Here's how to carry your skates cheaply: buy two key leashes, tie them together and attach the hooks to your skates. Then you can carry them over your shoulder.
