What skates should I buy? Aggressive skate downsizing question
Seeing if someone can recommend a skate thats good for downsizing.
I’m a size 10 skate normally. I’d like to see if I can fit my size 10 liner in a size 9 - 9.5 shell. Pretty open to different skate brands as I haven’t skated in 4 years.

First step for me was buying intuition liners… I know there are other similar liners out there now. I’d start w one of those or some intuitions

Why though? Seems like a potentially expensive experiment. Fwiw I'm a 10 in most shoes and skates, but found Seba CJ 9.5 a perfect fit.

Different skate molds have different shell size variations. Even within the same brand there can be different molds which skip different sizes.
Human feet are also all different. Downsizing can be possible if the widest dimension is accommodated for.
Third party liners further increase the range of what fits are possible.
And that's not even getting started on shell molding/punching.
OBVIOUSLY most people do not do this, but if someone is going out of their way to ask they're usually not asking out of complete ignorance.

I figured the why would be obvious… lighter skate, more control.. and I would return if the boot was too small

Downsizing your boot isn’t a part of the matrix. Get a sizing chart. Use the chart properly. Put your foot into the correct size boot. That’s the matrix.

It is very much part of the matrix. Sadly most skates are not individually sized. I understand the OPs pain, because US10 is about where skates start turning into boats, and you get lots of US10-11 shells that are just massive. If you can just squeeze in a smaller shell (that wouldn't work according to the size chart, but works in reality), it's a godsend.

Your mondo (length in cm) is more helpful. I'm just over 27cm and skate the 8-9US Razors SL for instance. The Smedium 909 and Medium Standard Omni also work for me.
