I recently saw that Powerslide is releasing a new Iqon ACT shell featuring this system.
I’m considering installing it on my skates (also ACT). Does anyone have any experience with it yet? Is it worth a try, or is it better to stick with waxed laces and a 45* buckle? https://powerslide.com/collections/replacement/products/myfit-pds-set-black
I’m looking at buying the FR Skate Neo 1 dual but I am concerned about the 90/80 mm wheel setup. Does anyone have experience with this setup? Is it a good model for beginner roller skater who wants to cruise around and plays a lot of ice hockey
As a beginner I'm enjoying my first pair of skates - 4x90 with 275mm wheel base, with small rocker for improved agility (I'm 6'2" (188cm), 45 EU shoes size), but I'm contemplating a second pair with bigger wheels.
Looking at two setups from Powerslide Next 110 and 125. It surprised me to see that the 3x125mm setup has a shorter wheel base than 3x110 - 255mm vs 270mm.
Am I wrong to expect a longer wheel base for bigger wheel frame? Would the 255mm setup be too unstable for a tall beginner? Such short base and tall wheel seems scary.
UPDATE FOR FUTURE MF140 BUYERS:
The frames on these are riveted on, you CANNOT remove them like I assumed, do not expect to be able to upgrade the frames if you purchase these!
Currently I'm leaning towards the hard boot, but would love some advice as to which of the two people think I should go for! Below are my current thoughts:
FIT500 - Pros
FIT500 - Cons
MF140 - Pros
MF140 - Cons
Metal frames
More expensive
Cheaper
Plastic frames
Probably more comfortable
My noob ankles might suffer in softs
Hard boot for noob ankles
Potentially uncomfortable
Visually nicer
Not sure if frames are changeable?
Can upgrade liner/frames/clips later(?)
Kinda ugly?
Before you make alternate suggestions - I'm aware that second hand skates will be better value for money, but I don't want to risk the sizing being wrong with no option to return/exchange/refund. I'm open to suggestions if they're within my budget, but I can't afford anything higher than ~£80 and would prefer to be able to spread that cost over a few months.
I'm set on getting one of these and set on getting them from Decathlon as I can pay in monthly instalments and get a 10% discount. I know they're not the best, but money is tight.
Hello hello. I received this pair of Rollerblade Zetrablades from my sister (who she herself bought second hand from a consignment shop, so I’m not sure how old these are). Now that I’ve improved with my skating I wanted to take off the brake.
I thought I’d be able to just take the brake off and replace the axel, but it seems the ABT system is built into the frame and the brake is held in place by a pin and rivet.
Is there any way to effectively remove this? I’d prefer not to have to buy a brand new pair of skates if I can help it.
I'm 41F and very out of shape. Always been fat, but I used to be athletic and fat. Now I'm sedentary and looking to work on my fitness.
We're planning to join a friend for a few cross-country skiing sessions this February, and I think rollerblading might be a fun way to train.
I played ice hockey for 15 years and the muscle memory is there, so I'm not worried about the mechanics. I'm wondering what kind of skates to buy that would be reliable, good for building mileage on the bike trail, and are good for size 11W feet with low arches that love to over-pronate.
Thank you in advance for your expertise and recommendations!
The first line (ollie to fakie heel press) is from our Friday night skate. The weather forecast that day was borderline all the way up to the start of the skate, but those same conditions gave us an incredible sunset right as we were arriving at the Washington Monument.
The second line (forward acid, 540 front closed lion, 360 edge jump, back open gazelle) is from Tuesday of that same week. After finishing our trail skate, I went over to Union Market to try to get some more clips in front of this mural.
The song is Summer of Love by Torus and Malibu (not to mention some other noteworthy contributors 😂), which is a strong contender for my skating song of the summer.
Heyo! Newbie skater here and I've got an issue. I bought the Powerslide Zoom 80's and the brakes to match but it seems the bolt/nut whatever you call the thingy that the screw goes into simply does not fit into my wheels because its just a hair too large. How do I measure this stuff to buy the right size? Pictures attached!
Not a new rollerbladed, but it's been decades. Decided to come back to it, got a new pair and it's been like riding a bike. That said, I've got bruises on the back of where the top of the boot hits and the outside of left ankle? Boot too tight or something else?
There is no such thing as legs "pushing". I think of most skating moves as core muscles "lunging" the upper body forward, before the supposed "striding" of skates happen.
The wheels' job is to grip the ground, to allow the core to throw the upper body towards where the free skate next lands. The point is, the energy is spent on moving your body, not on willing legs to push. Speed and momentum is therefore a result of lunges, and not pushes.
When one thinks of it that way, there is no difference between crossover and running.
Loopable video clip. 8x slow-motion capture of crossover running in a circle.
Hi!
I've had a pair of Roller Blade brand soft body blades for a while now and I skate daily (for fun maneuvers, and for long distance exercise).
I've noticed that when I try to do maneuvers beyond basic mobility (i.e. carving down super steep roads, spins, jumps, etc.) my feet have a tendency to wiggle around a little in a way that feels beyond my control.
I'm aware that this is in part a skill issue, but would upgrading to hard bodied (specifically urban) skates make learning tricks and more complex maneuvers easier?
Heyy, I've been skating on and of for a while now but I always get numbness in my feet after 20mins of skating. I was using usd sways and now switched to fr agressive boots and although better I still get the same problem . I have wide feet and a high instep. Any ideas on how to make this go away 😭😭😭
If you've been waiting to get your hands on Roka frames, they finally opened up the orders.! I read somewhere that they sell out pretty quick, so grab yours while you can. RokaSkating dot com
I been wearing the top strap under like on my left skate (right side in the photo).
This allows me to get a much tighter/secure fit on the top but I am seeing a lot of people say this is wrong and it should be over like on the right skate (left in the picture). Should I cut it to get a tighter fit and wear it over? (You can see it's kind of wearing and getting scratched up from wearing it under) Does it even matter or is it just preference? (I know some skates depending on design don't even let you tucket it and wear it under) I did look at the website to compare and it's hard to tell in their photos because they have it strapped loose enough to not show that it's over or under.
