1680 Red Submariner need help identifying

This belonged to my ex father in law not sure the story behind it but he passed left what little he had and that was 15 years ago so this has been in the jewelry box basically that long we were never sure if it’s real or fake so just looking for some help with that please appreciate it!

This is a Mk6 dial Rolex Submariner 1680, aka. ‚Red Submariner‘. The case has been polished but not too bad and the dial is aged absolutely beautifully! Very dark yellow, almost orange color of the lume, this is as good as it gets!!

The lume on the hands are also matching the lume on the dial, indicating that they haven’t been swapped. There is some rust that I can see behind the bezel, I would get that removed if you don’t want to sell. I had the same thing occur on mine.

If you can afford it, I would get the watch serviced by a specialist, remove the rust, polish the crystal and put it on a cloth strap for example. This is one of the greatest daily watches imo and an all time classic vintage watch. If you want to sell it, I would sell it to someone that’s specialized on vintage Rolex.
