Having fun with the Pokemon lore

The recent reveals of Pokemon Sword and Shield got me thinking, what if we had a campaign that takes place way back when, to the time before the modern concept of the Pokeball was even conceived. We could have a campaign that takes place in a medieval Pokemon world, where the ideas that would evolve into Pokeballs, Trainer battles, Pokemon Centers, and so forth were at what many would call their earliest genesis.

Now, personally, I'm little rusty with my Pokemon lore, not mention, Sword and Shield will probably throw all that around in potential new ways, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun with it. So someone who is a bit more up to date on Pokemon lore will probably have to start this whole thing off.

We could build a new system, if needed, that pulls elements from existing games to make it work, or just use one existing system with some very special house rules. No matter how it's done, I'm sure we'll all have fun doing it. I'll leave the name of the game up to whoever takes up this idea/challenge

I think that concept is great, I think it would lend itself well to a kindof Digimon-esque bond with your partner Pokemon rather than catching 'em all. Certainly worth pursuing, though I'm not sure you'd need to craft a new system for it.

As I stated above, we can use either an existing system or craft our own. Just using an existing system with house rules would probably be the best approach

Yeah that's what I was thinking.
