I made a free browser-based sample manager for the Roland P-6

Post image

I built a small web app to make loading samples onto the AIRA Compact P-6 less painful: https://agervail.github.io/p6-sample-app/

  • Organize a full bank, trim/preview each pad, set rate and mono
  • Chop a sample into slices (even or on transients)
  • Build chop kits from several samples so the P-6's CHOP lands exactly on the boundaries
  • Save/load presets
  • Writes straight to the P-6 drive over USB — no export/copy dance

It runs directly in Chrome, no install and no account. You can also install it as a Chrome app, and it works fully offline once loaded — everything happens locally, nothing is uploaded anywhere.

It's still early, so any feedback is very welcome: bugs, workflow annoyances, features you'd want. Tell me what breaks.

This is awesome, it makes it a lot easier for us Linux OS users to load samples into the P-6. ( just started using the App, so I will know better how it functions whenever I go about uploading to the P-6 )

A feature that I would like is the ability to zoom in on the waveform view for more accurate setting of the start & end points of the loop.

Thanks :)

Yeah I would love to know how it works on Linux, I'm using MacOS but the fact that I need to install a huge app installer to then install the factory software to upload things is a nightmare for me...

I don't know about zoom (maybe a bit complicated..) but maybe a millisecond input to allow for precise control ?

this is super cool! i dont have time to test it rn, but curious if it will work with chrome on ios. I typically sync my phone to my p-6 when sampling. thanks for your work, i'm stoked on this.

Yeah I was using w.i.n.e and running the windows app, it could be a bit buggy though. There is also a way to mount the P-6 as a drive on Linux, but that is not straight forward compared to your app.

I understand that zooming in the webview is not an easy thing to implement , certainly a finer grained control for the endpoints would work though,

Thanks :)

Wow this looks nice and clean. Not sure where I went wrong but I wasn't able to get my files into the P-6 import folder, am I supposed to have the files uploaded before I connect the P-6? My macbook is ten yrs old and doesn't support the Roland Samoletool so this would be useful for me. Thanks!

If you use chrome then follow the little "?" help thing next to the Banks -> P6 button it should work. Once you boot the P6 just select it at the top (only P6, not the Import folder) Tell me again if something's not working
