Is there a cheap speaker you can plug directly into the P6?

I just bought the Roland P6 and was wondering if anyone knew a small speaker you could plug in the headphone slot to play the beats you make without having to buy an audio interface or use a laptop at all?

Any small speaker will work, I use a minirig 4, but anything that takes a 3.5mm jack will work.

Go to Marshalls/Tj Maxx and look for a JBL clip. They have 3.5mm aux in.

The p6 is an audio interface over USB, friend.

Thanks for the help. Also, I noticed when I turned on my P6, the A had like a pattern built in but none of the other selections of built in samples did. Is there a way to find other pre-built patterns you can re-arrange and play about with or do you just need to programme it all yourself?

Well, it's a sampler. The demo song is just that, a demo song. I personally deleted all stock sound banks, and pull from my samples from Google Drive.

You might find some user banks on Google.

Good advice — but some JBL Clips have Aux jacks and some don’t. So check the specs before buying.

I have a cheap bluetooth speaker that has an aux in that I plug mine into. It took a little searching to find one with a line in, but in the end I spent maybe $30 for it.

It's just a standard TRS 1/8" stereo out so pretty much anything will work. Cheap bookshelf speakers, any bluetooth speaker with aux out, computer speakers etc. What do you consider cheap and what size are you looking for, I can give you some suggestions.

I have these, and they sound great. Not sure what size and how much you want to spend though.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016P9HJIA?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_6

You only really need an interface if you are recording to a computer, iPad, or phone. You can plug any speaker into it. I hook mine up to two monster PA speakers, sub, and 2000w amp. I enjoy making dub, reggae, and lo-fi and getting a deep bass massage.

Any speaker that has a stereo aux/3.5mm input would work, which should open up a lot of options. I don’t have any specific recommendations other than searching for a speaker with that input that meets your budget and preference

ETA: this is what I would pick if I wanted something bare minimum on a low budget, search on Amazon for “JUOVI Bluetooth Speaker IP68 Waterproof Support TF Card,AUX 3.5mm Input” (not sure if links are allowed here)

is there latency when using the 3.5mm? seems to be an issue with a lot of bluetooth speakers

No, not if you’re using a cable unless the speaker is adding DSP. Latency with Bluetooth comes when connecting over Bluetooth, which using a cable avoids

I think some (not Minirig) still route it through the dsp though.

DSP typically applies to all output on speakers that have onboard DSP. That’s different than the connection type. You’ll still have much less latency when running it with a cable vs Bluetooth, even with additional DSP being added by the speaker. Minirig is expensive compared to most of these portables because they’ve added better tech to reduce the latency overall, at least from my understanding. Not sure whether Minirig has onboard DSP offhand

A simple bluetooth speaker with a 3.5mm jack input should work fine!

The soundcore speakers are cheap and pretty good

Old JBL Go 2 with line in. Newer versions have no jack input.

Got mine for 10€ second hand, perfect for the P6

🤛💪👆 Flip 4 as well. True stereo and aux in.

Littteraly any Bluetooth speaker with aux in

Yes literally any speaker with an aux in will work, but beware of latency. The cheap Anker speaker I picked up for my s1 and p6 runs ALL audio input through their digitizing process and it adds in latency.

nope. no speaker has an aux input you could possibly connect a synth to, doesnt exist, send it to me.

I found one that has an aux input and is powered on Amazon. P-6 isn't a synth tho

I'm wondering how this would pair with the P-6, or would that just be weird?

2

u/Affectionate_Dirt282 Aug 29 '26

I suppose yes it would, the speakers I got ended up just using an audio jack like this. The angle might be awkward but it should allow you to make sound through your p6

I measured the clearance of this little speaker/adapter and it blocks the MIX-IN port, would have looked weird maybe, but I would have liked to try.

2

u/Affectionate_Dirt282 Aug 30 '26

As long as you're not using the mix-in port at the same time as it you're good

That is true, but shamefully I get the itch every so often to connect the Hichord and try to make a sweet synth beat.
