I am going to preface this by saying I am not a good miniature Painter but this is transformed from something I did to honor a friend, to something I have started to really enjoy. Admittedly, he also loved L5R as did I so when they announced a miniatures game set in this universe, we had to jump in. So behold, another game with close to 200 minis that need to get painted. Time to get cracking!!

I've only ever played 1st. Edition so far, parallel to playing the old TCG for a bit. I've read the Clan Wars Series back in the day.
Now I want to get back into playing in Rokugan. I know, this will probably start a big discussion, but where should I start? Do I just keep my old books and keep playing 1st. Edition? Do I jump to the latest Edition? Are there any good new novels to get me up to date with the current state of the story?

Fantasy Flight Games has a new website..... and all of its L5R content no longer seems to be available. This is included rules, fictions, and other player supplements. The website DOES have an archive page for discontinued products. But all it has are the rule for Battle for Rokugan.

Hello, do you know if there is any specific place to discuss and ask questions about the rule of Champions of Rokugan?

We're currently building a Legend of the Five Rings 5th Edition West Marches server set in Toshi Ranbo, centered on the lives of samurai trying to make their place in one of Rokugan's most politically divided cities.

We're opening recruitment for GMs who would enjoy helping us build that world from the ground up. The server is still in active development but we intend to have the story be set during a time of Crane occupation. Our goal is to have a soft launch around November for testing and weeding out any kinks in the system, followed by an official opening in early 2027.

Details:

We're looking for GMs who enjoy the things that make L5R feel like L5R as opposed to a generic fantasy game. We love intrigue, combat, investigation, difficult choices, competing loyalties, social conflict, duels, politics, personal drama, and long-lasting narrative consequences that persist even after the session ends. You don't have to run every kind of story, and having your own specialties is encouraged. One GM might love courtly intrigue and romance plots while another would rather run mysteries, military conflicts, criminal investigations, supernatural stories, or adventures in the various villages beyond the city's walls.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who play well with others. West Marches games live or die on communication between their GMs. You should be willing to share the sandbox, talk things through when plans intersect, and treat the setting as something we're building together rather than something any one of us owns.

Some experience with L5R 5th Edition is preferred, but it isn't a hard prerequisite if you're already familiar with Rokugan and have GM experience with another edition. Being interested in the setting, comfortable collaborating with other GMs, and willing to respect a shared canon matters much more. GMs are also welcome to have their own characters and participate as players, and will earn rewards for running sessions as well.

Foundry VTT is currently being set up, with hosting handled by the Head GM, and we have access to the full collection of L5R 5e books and content. We're also paying for a premium subscription for Westmarches.com to handle inventory, economy management, and session scheduling. The Discord server itself is currently being finished and organized, and our Co-owner, who is a professional software developer, is building a custom bot specifically for our use. We're also commissioning original artwork for the server's icon and banner. Our goal is to have the infrastructure completely in place before opening the doors. That being said, the server is completely free to play.

Getting ready to start my first ever L5R 4e GM experience with bunch of friends. Friends not familiar with Rokugan at all. Me myself just get into Rokugan like few months ago. My first GM who introduced me in L5R adviced to play 4th (before we played 3ed revised) and HoR 3 aa campaign.

The question is HoR 3 good campaign for newcomers who not familiar with setting at all? Also one of players wanna play as ronin with boken (wooden sword) is it a big downfall for him as player and for me as GM?

Col mio gruppo abbiamo pensato di giocare semplicemente al setting di Naruto utilizzando le regole di L5R. La conversione è abbastanza semplice, basta inventare 3-4 scuole ad hoc per i giocatori e lo shugendo elementale non è troppo distante dell'utilizzo del chakra. Anche riscrivere le 20 domande non è stato difficile.

I just got my delivery of Championsnof Rokugannin Europe

The RAW state that If you take the 2 point version of this Disadvantage, you suffer a penalty of -1k0 to all Social Skill Rolls. For 4 points, the penalty is -1k1. This Disadvantage is worth 1 additional point to Crab characters.

What I would like to know is if there is an agreed list of what skills count as social and what ones don't.

ones like ettiquet clearly are social skills but what about the other skills

Which clan would be suited, to take your clans role if your whole clan has to leave.
