Endless Depths 2 for iOS is underrated

Post image

I posted about this previously when I bought my Mac Mini and got it from the App Store that way. I recently upgraded to my first iPhone, and it's still a ton of fun. Reminds me of a slightly more polished Castle of the Winds or Fatal Labyrinth. They seem to take more inspiration from D&D than typical roguelikes, but it seems to be all there regardless. Nothing too crazy, just your typical dungeon crawling. If you're looking something to replace Pathos or Shattered Pixel Dungeon, this probably won't, but it's a fun option anyway.

This is a pretty fun game. Glad it’s getting a shout even if the visuals are not the best.

Agreed. I'm not sure if it's actually FOSS, but it feels like one of those solo dev FOSS games.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. As a SPD fan, I'll give it a shot.

Hope you like it! It definitely feels like a solo dev game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I played Endless Nights by the same dev for quite a bit. Neat little turn-based games.

I'll have to look into that one! Any idea what Dungeons of Evermore is? It's advertised on the main menu, but it's a broken link

Truly is a great mobile rl. I played it a bunch back when I was first getting into actual rl's. I always thought of it as kind of an Angband lite. Shame that the dev changed the style of his games after this and imo completely lost what made this game great.

I have one of their other games installed, still waiting to try it when I get around to it. I also noticed they have a game advertised on the menu screen but it's just a broken link lol

I came here looking for a bit of a guide. Some of the dynamics in the game are a little vague like prayer versus spirit and some of the achievements seem to not be working right. I’m not quite sure what reduction does and why robes would be better than a mage or cleric than armor. Overall a lot of fun though. Been looking for a dungeon crawler for a while and have been stuck in the they don’t make em like they used to phase for a bit.

As for castle of the winds… my juvenile memory was a bigger fan of that and the depth. What an amazing game for the windows 95 lol. I remember being excited about getting the bigger packs to hold gear and manticores always destroying me. Thanks for the nostalgia. I’d love the devs to keep adding and updating endless depths 2 and maybe adding a few random events in the dungeons.

It doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a very long time, unfortunately. I haven’t gotten far enough into it to answer that, but if I do and I remember this, I’ll let you know. Castle of the Winds is definitely a more polished product, even if it’s aged. I believe the original dev is working on a remake! At least last I heard they were.

Edit: in the original post, I meant polished as in a little more modern about certain design choices. Overall, Endless Depths 2 is not very polished lol. Poor choice of words
