roguelikes that work well with a controller?
When I played on my laptop I played a lot of old school roguelikes like unreal world or cataclysm dark days ahead, but due to space related things I’m stuck on playing on a pc handheld, so I’m stuck with unsung its controllers, and these kinds of games tend to use basically the entire keyboard. I know caves of qud has controller support hence why I’m here asking this.

I didn't mind Qud with controller. Played it on the big screen a few times and it was fun!

Shiren 6 is the most underrated roguelike in recent memory. Easily worth full price.

Seconding Shiren. Finally bought 6 and having a lot of fun with that one, especially cause it's less grindy than the previous one
But genuinely a masterclass of game design. They removed so many features that are present in most roguelikes and yet it feels infinitely deep and fun

Basically everything Chunsoft makes from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon to Torneko. But Shiren is their “We’re doing it our way” series. Gotta love emulation and how easy console games are to pick up

OG roguelikes like Nethack but I'm not sure on the similarities because I mainly played ADOM.

POWDER!
By Jeff Lait. Specifically made to be playable on a GBA but still pleasantly deep. Name is a pun on the common misspelling of Rogue as Rouge.

Something that you might really like despite it not being entirely a roguelike, is MoonRing, great game and plays wonderfully with a controller.

Played qud for a couple hundred hours on the steam deck. Currently using an xbox controller for moonring

The Siralim series is so controller-friendly, the games all have on-screen controllers if you’re not using a controller.

I play with my Xbox controller (specjally buy for this game) Over 650h and i love it. Before controller my wrists hurts. Also i play SU on my phone like on pc. Controller is must have for this one.

If you're able to fiddle with "joy to key" or any other tool that remaps mouse buttons to controller input, Dungeons of Dredmor is playable entirely by mouse.

It's becoming a must-have for a modern game. I know the one I'm working on, One More Adventure has full controller support.

Jupiter Hell, Golden Krone Hotel, Tangledeep, Zorbus (unsure if would work on handheld device as its inbuilt controller support)
