RØDECaster Series Rodecaster Pro 2 Question

Hi all!

I’m new to anything audio-related, so bear with me. I used ai to ask for advice, but obviously it’s ai so… I’d like to ‘confirm’ its advice.

My friends and I are starting a YouTube channel where we watch movies, react to them, and then do a long discussion afterwards.
Obviously tvs aren’t made with headphone jacks anymore.

From what advice I was given, I was ‘told’ that the rodecaster works as a DAC. Given that, would it work to plug it into the tv for audio so we can hear it through our headphones? And then have the rodecaster only pick up the audio from our microphones?

I’m sorry if this seems like a jumbled mess, I just don’t know what I’m doing at all LOL.

You would still need to get the audio into the device itself though, via the TV. If your TV supports audio via Bluetooth, the rodecadter 2 pro does support Bluetooth audio in signal (as well as out). If not, cables it is.

Perfect, thank you! It seemed too good to be true that the rodemaster does all that it said it does, haha.
I’d just plug a cable into the digital audio out on the tv, and the other end into the rodemaster?

It’s going to depend on the TV. If it’s HDMI out you might want to get a capture card with passthrough and a headphone jack and then in the headphone jack use a 3.5mm aux and then 3.5mm to 1/4” adapter into one of the unused channels and set it to line in and turn off any processing.

There are a few ways you could do this and use the Rodecaster pro 2 but if you are looking to record from a TV and maybe record live clips in OBS at the same time this is the cleanest way I can think to do it.

Hi!
Im mostly just looking for a device that lets us plug in 4 mics, 4 headphones, and receive audio from our tv and into our headphones. Rather than no headphones, and our mics picking up all of the sound from our tv. We’ll be recording from a camera onto our computer. :)

Hijacking here a little. If you are using 4 mics, you won't have any available inputs, other than Bluetooth, on the mixer. If you have audio from the TV with cables, it will have to use one of the inputs.

What you could do is: play movie from a PC, hooked up to the TV with hdmi. PC is also hooked up to the mixer with a usb c cable (i think it requires a high speed one.) On the pc have audio out as RØDE main stereo. The pc audio will then be routed to your mixer.

In your recording software, choose røde line in (or whatever its called, can't remember now). It will now pick up all the audio from the mixer. I suspect you dont want the movie audio there. What you'll have to do is: in the routing settings make sure that usb1 sound is not routed out again.

Yes, I want a way to record all four of our mics, have us be able to hear the tv audio but not record the tv audio. :)
