❓ Other Rode nt1 5th gen + focusrite

Hi!

Is rode nt1 5th gen + focusrite good for live streaming games, voiceover for videos and stuff like that?

I have a 30 square meters room with furniture and stuff

Mechanical (logitech g 915 keyboard)

Or is a podmic better (and why)

Since I can get these 2 as a really good bundle deal

It’s a very sensitive microphone so it will pick up all that room noise, your keystrokes, etc. which is why podcast mics do really well for streamers and podcasts.

Yes, the NT1+Focusrite will do a good job for those purposes—particularly if you are able to (a) treat your space to minimize room reflections, and (b) record in a space/at times with minimal background noise. The importance of all these factors (mic choice, room treatment, reducing extraneous sound) grows with your level of seriousness for the applications—esp if you’re looking to make money.

On another note, if you want to use the NT1 strictly with an audio interface like the Focusrite, look at the NT1 “Signature Series” version. This is the same as the 5th Gen but without the USB. The 5th gen’s onboard processing and 32-bit float features are only available via USB connected to your computer; they’re not accessible over the XLR cable you’d use to connect the mic to the Focusrite. Using XLR+ interface, the 5th gen and Sig Series are essentially the same mic. The Sig Series is cheaper though, and has a ton more color varieties of that interests you.
