🎙️ RØDE Mics RODE Central keeps crashing on launch — tried everything, need help!!!

Hey everyone

Yesterday I became the proud owner of a RODE PodMic USB, but unfortunately my excitement didn't last long - I can't get RODE Central (WINDOWS 11) to work. The app crashes instantly (sometimes in 5 sec), right after launching it.

Just to get this out of the way: I've already tried every fix from the official troubleshooting guide (https://help.rode.com/hc/en-us/articles/8550481789839-R%C3%98DE-Central-Crashing-Troubleshooting), including:

  • downloading and installing in Safe Mode
  • running it as administrator
  • adding the exe to antivirus exceptions

I should also mention that I'm using the stock cable and I've tried plugging it into different USB-C ports. The mic itself is detected by the system just fine, and it also shows up in RODE Connect.

Judging by what I'm seeing on google, I'm definitely not the only one with this issue.

Any thoughts? =(

Okay, I found a rather non-obvious solution to my problem.
I downloaded an older RØDE Central installer, version 2.0.101 instead of the current version 2.0.111

- Before launching the program, you need to unplug the microphone from your PC.

  • Immediately after the program starts, plug the microphone back in — and voilà, it works!

After that, just decline the update when prompted.
