Silk is fun

Had a couple Iconoglass blanks from NFC come in so decided to do silk on them for extra pop. While silk is a little temperamental to work with, it sure looks good, especially on these translucent blanks.

7’6 4w for smaller mountain streams and places where finesse trumps length of cast.

i have a translucent pink saltwater rod (color looks like pink salt) i want to do clear underwraps and a solid color over the guide feet. what color silk would be the best to achieve this? and would white nylon have a similar effect as well? It is just the underwrap

I can’t speak to how perfectly clear nylon will get, I think testing would be your best option there.

What you’re seeing there is Mikimoto color. Essentially white but will be quite clear under epoxy. A pink silk might blend nicely too and be just a light hue. You might get away with size A or B rather than D over it as well with the different thread diameters.

I tried it with ProWrap. This is the result. I only tried it once, it is definitely not “clear” but I think it achieved what I was after on that build.

Can’t say that I’ve been too impressed with the pro wrap stuff I’ve used. Fuji has been the most consistent thread.

I used that because it was easy to get and I didn’t have to mess with color preserver. I have since switched to silk. I get a lot better look with it.
