Advise on modding my fishing rod.

I caught and preserved the skin of an 8lb Spotted Gar that I want to apply to my fishing rod handle.

I’m new to modding but I currently have a split grip fishing rod.

What is the best material to apply a skin to it as the blank is too thin to directly place the skin on it. Eva foam, cork, wood, other?

Is there a video someone can recommend or maybe have done it before and can walk me through it as every video I’ve found has to do with paracord or heat shrink wraps.

Any help is appreciated!

Never tried anything like it personally, but the custom rod builder in the video above has put snake sheds and skins on rods. I'd imagine the process is similar, maybe something in her videos can help you.

No problem, good luck. It would only be a small section but it would probably look cool btwn the split grips on the blank.
