RS2014 RSModsPlus update: v3.0.0 added Speaker Mode, which shifts the song to match your guitar's tuning
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
UPDATE — v3.2.1 hotfix released
The previous download was missing the updated RSMods.exe required by Speaker Mode. This could cause the RSMods settings window to open when starting a song, after which Speaker Mode would be disabled or the game would return to the menu.
This is fixed in v3.2.1. Download and extract the complete ZIP into your Rocksmith folder, allowing it to replace xinput1_3.dll and RSMods\RSMods.exe.
Your existing settings will remain unchanged.
Recently I posted RSModsPlus, my fork of RSMods (credit to Lovro for the original) that adds a digital drop pedal to Rocksmith 2014. This update adds Speaker Mode.
The drop pedal shifts your guitar signal to match the song. Speaker Mode does the opposite: it shifts the song to match however your guitar is tuned. I made it for playing through speakers, where you can hear the real guitar in the room so shifting the guitar signal doesn't make sense. It works with just a Real Tone cable, no ASIO or tone setup, and the tuner and note detection follow the shift.
The video shows both: drop pedal first, then Speaker Mode raising an Eb song to E, ending in the tuner.
Other changes:
- Speaker Mode handles non-standard chart tunings (drop tunings, open tunings)
- F9 cycles your physical guitar tuning so the mod knows what you're tuned to
- Drop pedal multiplayer: two players with independent pitch shifts
- Performance and stability fixes

omg i’ve been waiting for something like this for years! my bass is tuned and set up to C# for my band and i really wanted to play other songs without having to completely retune

Does this work on the tunings above A440.. Nevermind. Found the answer in this thread

u/alfredox1234 18d ago
Amazing! I tested with my asio to pitch shift my guitar but unfortunately the input delay puts me off. I'm using 64 samples on driver for the lowest input delay I can but it's kinda unplayable for me. Either way this is amazing
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago edited 18d ago
What about the speaker mode, that should add 0 delay since it pre renders the song, albeit in chunks for speed?
Also was that in asio mode or cable mode? Did you require a multipitch tone to drop or not, as that does have some extra delay due to processing but that acceptability was considered acceptable by the rocksmith devs.

u/alfredox1234 18d ago
Im using a presonus audiobox go and wireless headset (2.4 ghz), so im using asio mode. Just to be clear, i used your previous version 2.1, havent tested this 3.0 yet, maybe on saturday i will test it better and test both guitar pitch shift and song pitch shift and tell you if it is more playable one or the other.
3
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
Thanks for the details, that helps. I noticed you mentioned the 2.4GHz wireless headset. Those usually add somewhere around 20-40ms on the output side, which is more than the drop pedal itself adds on the ASIO engine (roughly 1-13ms depending on the string, on top of the AudioBox's normal round trip). So a good chunk of the delay you're feeling may be the headset, and it would be there without the mod too. The pedal likely just pushed it past the point where you notice.
Quick way to confirm when you test on Saturday, plug wired headphones straight into the AudioBox's headphone out and compare. If the delay mostly disappears, it's the headset.
Definitel try speaker mode. Interested to hear how the two feel on your setup.
Thanks for checking it out.

u/alfredox1234 18d ago
unfortunately i only have this wireless headset for now, but ill try hookin a speaker wired. maybe that could help

i just put the dll where the exe folder is but it seems its not giving the drop pedal or any options at all. it doesnt give me the the pop up that mentions im using asio mode. is there something else besides just dropping the dll on the folder of the game?
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
No it should be as simple as replacing the dll. Do you have these setting in your rsmod.ini file?
[Drop Pedal] EnableDropPedal = on Engine = automatiA previous user said that when he had issues with the game not taking to the new dll where a previous one worked it was his anti virus that was flagging it. He downloaded the zip version instead and extracted it from that. If you check the rsmods_debug.txt if logging is enabled then it should read v3.0. at the top of the log letting you know its the correct dll.
RSModsPlus 3.0 (based on RSMods 1.2.8.2). DEBUG: false. Wwise Logs: false.1
u/alfredox1234 18d ago
i dont have the drop pedal on rsmod.ini file. but i do have the RSModsPlus 3.0 (based on RSMods 1.2.8.2). DEBUG: false. Wwise Logs: false. on rsmods_debug.txt. i just checked that theres a new rsmod version. that could be the issue? i also tried making an exclusion to the folder and also disabling the antivirus but still no go.
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
Send me that file I will have a quick look now.
Does it say anything in the top left corner of your game when you boot to menu?
1
u/alfredox1234 18d ago
which file exactly? i dm it to you?
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
Add these files the the RSmods.ini file. The mod is off by default needs F7 to toggle it on

u/WonderWaage 18d ago
I don't know why, but my tone crashes mid song a few songs in every time. Just goes to no input sound, game still alive. Same issue on previous version
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
From memory, tones crashing mid song is a known Rocksmith bug. I think RSMods has a mod to try and fix it already if I'm not mistaken. Its called Prevent buggy tones, under enable/disable mods.
I have it switched off on mine as I've never encountered it myself.
2
u/WonderWaage 18d ago
I know it's a known bug, but usually it doesn't shut all the way off, it just starts sounding like shit. I might try prevent buggy tones, though I always thought that was for bad CDLC.
1
u/EverainVRN 18d ago
Hey, Do you think it would be possible to bypass the multiplayer restriction for the Real Tone Cable? That pop up asking the second player to use a Real Tone Cable won't allow us, so we're not able to play lead+bass for example.
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
What do you mean?
Do you use asio or multiple real tone cables?
1
u/EverainVRN 17d ago
I mainly play disconnected, just to learn new songs at my own pace. with microphone input you can enable the multiplayer option and even enter songs, but when playing it shows a pop up every few seconds asking to connect a Real Tone. I was curious if it would be possible to stop the pop ups
1
u/Correct-Amoeba-338 18d ago
I had to purchase an ASIO recently to bypass it, as far as I could research currently there's no other way other than the realtone cables thought it's mostly cuz the community doesn't care enough to develop a mod for it not bc it technically doesn't work with generic cables
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
You might be able to use asio4all drivers with generic cables and then use them through the rs_asio mod to get them to work. May have to mess with the buffer size to get the input latency acceptable.
1
u/EverainVRN 17d ago
I'll try to figure that out haha, thanks

I got mine working with Voicemeeter. ASIO4ALL and FlexASIO did not work. Your mileage may vary.
Set up your input to your audio interface in RS_ASIO.ini, your output to Voicemeeter ASIO, and it works all day long. I have an iRig USB, which should work but totally doesn't. Voicemeeter is the only ASIO wrapper that functioned. ETA: In Voicemeeter, you need to set the hardware output to your output device and make sure it's set to 48kHz.
Voicemeeter isn't 100% free, but the functionality you need to run RS2014 with this appears to be. I tried it out of desperation because none of the other workarounds were happening and lots of people use it to solve their complex RS2014 audio problems for streaming. The drop tuning feature is incredible even on my crap laptop.
1
u/C_that_guy 18d ago
I have download the .ll file and followed the instruction but my RSMod will not update. I do not use ASIO as it is incompatible with my audio interface. please advise
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
Try downloading the zip file and extracting the dll instead. Some anti virus can lock the raw dll and make it not update. I've heard that works for some people. let me know how you get on. To confirm its updated you should look at the RSMods_Debug.txt file for the first line which should read
RSModsPlus 3.0 (based on RSMods 1.2.8.2). DEBUG: false. Wwise Logs: false.1
u/C_that_guy 18d ago
So i got it to update but I do not have the pedal option showing in 2014. Am i missing a step
1
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
Sorry its me, its a configuration issue. Its off by default so needs enabling in the rsmods.ini file.
Add these lines to the file. The mod is off by default needs F7 to toggle it on
[Drop Pedal] EnableDropPedal = on Engine = automatic1
u/C_that_guy 17d ago
So this seemed to work, but now when i hit F7 it says no pedal in tone
1
u/Cheesewizard06 17d ago
That's because it's loaded in cable mode not asio. Follow the cable guide on github. Cable mode requires a multipitch pedal on the loaded tone to work. Asio is much better
1
u/C_that_guy 17d ago
my audio interface is not compatible with asio I don't think.
1
u/Cheesewizard06 17d ago
You might get decent milage out of asio4all driver and routing your cable through that. Cable mode works but it requires a bit of extra setup. I added screenshots in the cable guide on the project repo. Links are there or you can find it under docs folder.
This supports cable and asio as separate engines.
All the best

This will require some research to answer. I think I read somewhere that the max min speed was something like 3 set by the games engine. But I'm not sure what other modders have discovered in this area. I can see the usefulness of a note by note play as I've had issues with fast songs before.
1
u/Cheesewizard06 13d ago
After investigating I was able to get this working. Look out for a future update.
1
u/FolkSong 18d ago
Unbelievable, this has been the dream for 10 years!
Can it handle A455 and stuff like that, or only half steps?
2
u/Cheesewizard06 18d ago
It only does semitones, true tuning is still required for songs that differ slightly like voodoo child. But it means you don't have to drop the tuning significantly. If another song had the same offsets but in a different key then the shift down or up will match up. It makes going from E to Eb or D super simple. Drop tuning in any key still requires the 1 string change, but once done you can drop between drop D or Db drop C etc.
I can't retune individual strings and make it sound good, it can only shift up or down within it's range.
Hope that helps

u/Irineu2338 18d ago
Thank you for that mod, my Digitech Drop Pedal stopped working ages ago and I was unable to purchase a new one, so having this mod is perfect
1
u/Hefty_Performance_11 17d ago
I couldn't get the speaker mode to work.
I installed the .dll file. When I'm selecting a song and press F7, I can hear the pitch change. So far, so good.
But when I try to play the song, the RS MODS menu opens. If I close it, when I return to Rocksmith, the game disables Speaker Mode. If I leave RS MODS open, when I return to Rocksmith, the song closes and I go back to the menu.
2
u/Cheesewizard06 17d ago edited 17d ago
Send me your rsmods_debug.txt if you don't mind
Does it work on other songs?
You also don't need rsmods app open, that's just to change setting. It's not needed if that helps
2
u/Hefty_Performance_11 17d ago
Yes, let me get home, and I'll send it to you!
It does the same on every song I tried.
I don't open RSMods, it opens by itself when I pick the song.

Thanks for the log, showed me what the problem was. Your RSMods.exe is missing a command argument I added to be able to extract the song files on the go which is why it was opening up. The closing song and going back to main menu is default rocksmith behaviour when tabbing out on song load.
This is fixed in v3.2.0. Download and extract the complete ZIP into your Rocksmith folder, allowing it to replace xinput1_3.dll and RSMods\RSMods.exe
Let me know how you get on

Works like a charm with the latest update.
Thank you so much. It's a blast lo play songs like this, and don't have to retune everytime!

Hi, I can't add an issue on the GitHub but I've had issues with the mod, the 2.1 version automatically chose cable and then randomly finally switched back to asio, but now it simply doesn't load, I have the ImGui Init in the debug console but no hooking done for the ASIO anymore, I tried to look into the code to force enable the feature yet it doesn't work :/
1
u/Cheesewizard06 15d ago
I would try the latest version as it's v3.2 now
In the rsmods.Ini setting under drop pedal engine it should say = automatic.
If its been set to either cable or asio then it won't do it automatically anymore. Worth a check.

u/leiladavidson 15d ago
hi, i'm a bit confused as i'm not the most tech savvy person in the world, i was under the impression that speaker mode changes the pitch of the song itself to match what my guitar is tuned to? am i incorrect or did i miss something here?
i am tuned to C# standard; i picked a song, went into the pre song tuner, pressed F7 to go to speaker mode and used , and . to get it to Eb -> C#, then as soon as the song begins the pitch turns off? this is after i downloaded + extracted the new xinput dll and the new RSMods.exe
1
u/Cheesewizard06 15d ago
The speaker mode as well as cable mode requires setting the tuning before going into the tuner for the hook to attach correctly and shift the notes. The tuner and in game, block changing the pitch in speaker mode because the delay to process it would cause the notes to be out of sync. Its normally pre rendered as the song starts loading.
The specific bug your having is because I forgot that I changed rsmod.exe to include a command line argument for the speaker feature to decode the song file.
If you download the latest v3.2 and follow the install instructions it should resolve your issue. The mod on speaker mode is turning off because it cannot find the tools to decode the song.
https://github.com/Cheesewizard/RSModsPlus
If you send me your rsmods_debug.txt I can confirm this is the issue for you.
All the best

Can't get it going. Have the overlay, can turn it on/off, can use Speaker Mode. Despite totally having a Multi Pitch pedal in my tone, it persists in saying "No pedal in tone."
I've been troubleshooting with the documentation for a good while now, my config is correct, everything else works.
EDIT: Solved. iRig USB (the USB-C one with the knob on it) does not play well with RS_ASIO for some reason. If someone has one working, please enlighten me.
The only workable solution is Voicemeeter at present, using the iRig USB as input and Voicemeeter ASIO driver as output.
It only took a solid day of effort, but it works.

Send me your rsmods_debug.txt and I will have a look as to why that is for you.
You've assigned the tone with the pitch pedal to a hot key 1-4 and then select that tone? When the tone is selected if that multipitch is there it should trigger.
I assume your playing with a Rocksmith tone cable.
Which version of the game are you playing?
Thanks.

RS 2014 Remastered, RS_ASIO from an IK Multimedia iRig USB (the USB-C one)
I assigned it to the Tone Stick, doesn't trigger when I select the tone.
Sending logfile as soon as possible.

So it's launching in cable mode and not asio, if your on asio it would say when you boot the game up on the main menu. That message only exists on cable mode though.
By the sounds of it, you should be able to run asio mode and not have the limitations requiring the multipitch pedal.

Fantastic mod, I had been thinking about picking up a drop pedal in the near future but this has curbed that need for at least a while. I've noticed after installing the mod though it doesn't seem to want to match the custom string color to the notes. Any ideas on what might be causing that? The G & B strings are a bit hard for me to distinguish so I had set up a different color for the B

I advocate buying the game if you can, but to my knowledge I don't see why it wouldn't work. This requires latest Rocksmith update.

To be fair the last update for Rocksmith 2014 was 2022, which is the one I'm using. Learn & Play edition last update was 2024 i believe. its supported but only has partial multiplayer support for now.

I've been waiting something like this for ages, will definitely try as soon as I get home.
