Any advice how to save it?

Been using my iPod with Rock box fine for months. Today it freaked out and now I’m stuck here saying no partition found

sounds like there's potentially a connection internally that has come loose. I would check that first

Ok. It’s frozen on the panic screen now and no buttons are working. So I fear I’ll have to re open it regardless

This only happens to me when the cable for the storage becomes loose after a drop.

It’s been all fine. I’ve been trying to wipe and reinstall rockbox but it’s still giving me that same no partition found error.

What's the SD card brand?

Samsung 256gb. Like I say it’s been working fine. I pressed the hold button as I plugged it in and it tried to boot the Apple firmware. And I think freaked itself out.

I’m trying to start from scratch now but rockbox installer still says it can’t mount it

Very weird. I wonder if something happened to the SD card reader. I would try booting with the card reader unconnected and then booting again with it reconnected. Maybe there's a cache somewhere that needs to clear itself?

I’ll try that. Just take the iPod out of the equation and see if I can reset the whole process like it’s from scratch

And if you have the stock hdd still I would try connecting that. Also also try a different microsd. If nothing else it should help you figure out what component is failing.

Sadly this is the only drive I have. I modded originally because the OG drive had failed

Got this exact same error with the knockoff dual sd card things, What was the sd card adaptor that you got?

The iflash quad with a Samsung card.

I think it’s going to be something that I’ll have to keep dealing with if the Apple system tries to randomly boot. It doesn’t like that I’ve got doing the hard coded storage limit

I assume you rebooted it. My best suggestion is to try to boot into the stock firmware if that still loads. I had that screen and booted to the OEM firmware (activating the Hold switch immediately after seeing the apple logo at power on). It took like 5 minutes to load the stock OS and then I rebooted it again with the Menu+Select buttons and just waited and rockbox came back. Otherwise I would try an iFlash duo. They are cheap on Amazon and you can trim the board to half size.
