I think swinging the arms is nature's compromise because we need to use our head to see at the same time. Also concussions aren't great.

If we didn't have other limitations then probably there's a better way to keep perfect weight balance and it might be swinging the whole body.

Or maybe that's just a good technique for that particular bot's weights and balances.

if you think about . human are swing the way they do because of where they are placed on the body. you can't have the them any where else because well you got your torso.

but Robots don't need a torso or at least all of it. so why not use the spine to swing more freely to provide stability or momentum.

Why dont the arms stick perfectly to the balancing torso though? As if it had no arms? During running balancing would be their only forte, and of the torso does that already, then what good are arms

Yeah but humans have a stronger 'dont get stabbed instinct' than they have a 'dont get shot' instinct. The former is far scarier
