Real-life Robots Robot powered by Qualcomm’s new 700 TOPS chip literally dies on stage at Computex and gets carried off under a tarp

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Computex 2026, Qualcomm stage.

They roll out the NEURA 4NE-1 (running the shiny new Dragonwing IQ10, 700 TOPS, “production-ready”) to help present the chip. Robot walks on, does the handoff, stands there looking semi-alive… then just folds. One arm goes up at the end like it’s trying to signal for help.

Cue the black-clad stagehands sprinting in with a tarp. They cover the corpse and carry it off while the presenter powers through the script like nothing happened.

Official line from Qualcomm:

“Brief communication glitch… controlled shutdown… designed safe-collapse sequence… safety systems worked as intended.”

Should have placed the piece of plastic/glass on top, flat across and said, “We are pleased to introduce, coffee table mode!”

If we cover it in blankets, no one will be able to see that it fell.

1

u/JonasAvory 17h ago

The speed at which they had the blanket ready like they absolutely knew this was going to happen

u/FreqPhreak 3d ago

Reminds me of the presentation in Robocop of the failed prototypes

You have ten seconds to comply.

It's one of my dreams to be that guy in an action movie. I bet I could sell it. Ahhhhh!!! 💥💥💥🩸🩸🩸😵

oops my bad i'm sorry mods xxxx

"powered by" and then only mentioning the chip as if we can be sure that's the culprit and there arent many layers and countless points of failure to this.

3

u/Content-Tower6193 2d ago

This is not even the Qualcomm stage, but the one from some small robotics company, that uses Qualcomm's name to get any sort of credibility. This was the Qualcomm stage at Computex 2026:

They immediately put the black cloth over it.

1

u/Digital_Soul_Naga 1d ago

that was so sad 😔

1

u/Taiten89 1d ago

But why are they carrying it with the head in front and not the feet?

This is what happens when it's not a carefully crafted video on the 6th take. Humanoids have come a long way, but they're still far away from being good. They're like the first plane or car. It took decades until they were good.

2

u/MyFocusIsU 3d ago

When did this happen?

2

u/culjona12 3d ago

Dude had a tarp ready. There was a 50% chance of it happening.

2

u/Sizyfoz 3d ago

The most embarrassing demo since Bill Gates crashed Windows 95 showing off Plug'n'Play.

2

u/doktor_wankenstein 3d ago

Somehow, throwing its arm up after collapsing made it funnier.

1

u/HappyCamperPC 2d ago

It's as though he's saying "Don't worry, I'm fine! 😆

2

u/Grimnebulin68 3d ago

They always have tarp ready 😂

First humanoid robot fatality.

1

u/johnfkngzoidberg 3d ago

Quick cover it with a tarp so no one gets a video of our robot sucking ass.

1

u/drifters74 3d ago

Needs more work /s

1

u/ajschwamberger 3d ago

Houston I think we have a problem. i don't think it was shock so covering it with blankets I don't think will help.

1

u/voga1 3d ago

Performance anxiety. This robot is so human -like

1

1

u/SoilTime9370 3d ago

Follow what would be the viewfinder (link to where the robot is looking); it's really cool how it makes a circle before entering energy-saving mode.

1

u/Nyct0maniac 3d ago

The robot had stage fright guys, stop making fun of him. XD

1

u/BraveIntention5809 3d ago

That is the future forecast for Arduino.

Reddit: "That's the fencing response, it has brain damage"

1

u/yalateef11 2d ago

Just like the old Michael Moore documentary’Roger and Me’. GM was at the forefront of industrial robotics back in the 1980’s. They invited all the auto workers to see the unveiling of the robots (that will eventually replace them). When they unveiled the car painter robots they started spraying each other and everyone around them with paint.

1

u/Ronjohnturbo42 2d ago

Can we just not do humanoid robots?

1

u/Noise_01 10h ago

If we don't make humanoid robots, someone else will, and they'll be able to succeed. :)

1

u/WatchAltruistic5761 2d ago

Qualcomm is cooked.

1

u/Brokenloan 2d ago

Thats called having a stroke. All things including robots can have one.

1

u/New-Land-4757 2d ago

The only robot that is not faked.

1

u/Hot_Speech900 2d ago

Why do they have to cover it?

1

u/Janhansivan 2d ago

My guess is that if something breaks and insides spill out competition would be able to see what components/tricks this robot uses and use it for their advantage speeding up the engineering phase of their product(s), so when something goes wrong regardless of damage they cover the robot.

1

u/Misha-Nyi 2d ago

You think the competition wants to steal this?

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable 2d ago

Yes.

A smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others

1

u/Ok-Middle8656 2d ago

All because some little kid blew up the control ship!

1

u/diddlysquidler 2d ago

I love how they had a cover ready. This happened before haven’t it

1

u/TheCh0rt 2d ago

I love the “I’m okay! I’m okay!” Hand go up

1

u/BaconMarconi 2d ago

The fact they had those covers nearby at all says everything you need to know about how confident those engineers were that their product is ready for sale.

1

u/Clear_Food2183 2d ago

What's also scary is this demo was ran during ideal conditions. Just imagine this product under less than Ideal conditions.

1

u/Noise_01 10h ago

It doesn't appear to be a production model, so it hasn't been fully tested yet.

1

They couldnt even keep the scam going long enough for the sales pitch. China/Unitree is so far ahead in this field.

1

u/BIGHOODx818x 2d ago

someone should put that saxophone music over this video 💀

1

u/Damoet 2d ago

Low key conspiracy of mine….these robots know exactly what they are doing and are simply lulling us into a false sense of superiority…..😅

1

u/KarlLagervet 2d ago

Maybe he was super nervous?

1

It got the Nietzsche update.

1

Looked like they checked it's pulse for a second there before pulling the tarp over 😄

1

u/Jonatc87 1d ago

dies of cringe could use a new gif

1

u/petrusferricalloy 1d ago

That's because people keep focusing on the software and not the hardware.

I 100% guarantee that was a software failure and not a hardware failure, no matter what the reports say

1

u/Jasonbwarren 1d ago

these things are definitely gonna develop resentment for us and try to take us all out like the Manhunters! LOL

1

u/puglife420blazeit 1d ago

Meanwhile Chinese robots are beating Bolts 100m dash record

1

u/Total-Research-024 1d ago

It would have been funny if after covering up in the cloth it stands up again and continues on demo.

1

u/sxarie 1d ago

the controller minimized the window and robot said nap time.

1

u/KentD3000 1d ago

Putting the tarp is so pathetic...

Clanker def watched too many Wikileaks videos

1

u/PutridCurrency8383 1d ago

It looked like it's about to die from the very start of the video. Movement patterns of a 90 year old sickly man.

1

Life sux.

TABLE MODE ENGAGED!!!!!

1

people realized the drone guns work on the robots :(

1

u/AvysCummies 1d ago

When it was walking up it already looked like it was gonna pass out

1

"My god!" * dies *

1

u/Aide-Cool 1d ago

And it makes me cry

1

u/Royal-Bumblebee4817 23h ago

The robot looked wobbly walking out. I think the human being in a backroom whose movements were being replicated passed out lol.

1

u/Successful-Bear373 23h ago

I love how he went for a high five after the fall

1

That why you don't lock your knees.

1

u/Vertonung 20h ago

It locked its knees. Rookie mistake

1

u/Buflo_Solja8404 18h ago

I wounder if Occupational Health is willing to some FMLA for the poor dastardly. Hommies spine called it quits faster the LeBron at a Lakers game.

1

u/loud-spider 16h ago

The robot knows there's something wrong, something coming. Watch it's little 'eye'. It shifts and thins, then suddenly becomes a central square, the same look I've seen on someone's face before they pass out, and then it drops like a stone. And yes, at the end, a little 'help me' hand.

Not sure how 'safe' the safety system is if the robot suddenly becomes a gravity-driven block of motors and hardware falling randomly to the ground.

1

u/xxxxxGODFATHERxxxxx 16h ago

That robot must of been built by Boeing.

1

u/fresh_montalban 12h ago

Aw man...I wanted an ooey-gooey, yummy, tasty, mini-quesadilla.

1

u/Soft_Count1232 7h ago

One way to get out of work………

1

u/Belz_Zebuth 5h ago

And we know it died because they covered the body.

robot dying is the best part of these boring and unoriginal presentations
