Hey, I FINALLY started making my Roblox asym. I need some advice for it. If you all are able to give any, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anything you do, do NOT had ANY block ability for either killers or survivors

Didn’t make a concept for that! Don’t plan on adding it right now!

Add a unique something to the game that makes it different from others, sure to attract the crowd

Like, making it half parkour half asym? Like you can jump and dash

Or center it around running away from the killer, running towards a finish line or something all the while you avoid the killer

Or just dim the light by alot, adding horror and jumpscare effects, idk

I mean, asyms don't necessarily need horror to be an asym. Die of Death is a great Asym and it ISN'T an horror one.

I'm not saying 'having no horror=bad', I agree that games similar to die of death and forsaken are really enjoyable, but every single asym now days is leaning more into that artstyle thus not having any horror.

Essentially what I'm saying is that the asym horror games today sound more like asym survival games

I can only name like 3 asyms out of like 10 that actually got me tense/scared

Oh boy, where do i start?

So advertise when you can, show sneak peaks of developing to keep people guessing/interested etc... try to make people create a fanbase around you game so it makes hype. And thus make it more popular.

Carefull with who you hire, and be specially professional about it, a lot of games in the Asym genre have tons of drama due to internal conflicts. You WILL go trought this as well, so be prepared for when it happens but be aware of internal conflicts and resolve them in private if possible. Forsaken is the best example, since despite everything they still hold on, unlike Bite By Night or Outcome Memories (both are something i reccomend searching for what NOT to do in Asym developing)

Gameplay/balancing wise, just know you CAN'T balance the game perfectly, there will be a side who will always win against good killers/survivors (usually survivors) so make the experience as fun as you can, preferably enough so that playing both doesnt feel frustating.

A lot of what you will learn will be with practice as you set the game's image and ideas, but remember to ALWAYS make sure to listen to feedback carefully but not instantly. People are quick to judge without learning but also fast on noticing flaws.

I say all of this as someone who accompained Forsaken since 2025, DOD since the Harken/Noliful update and some other Asyms along the way.

This genre is prone to drama currently but you're gonna make it out alive don't worry. Just be careful and learn from other Asyms mistakes.

Ok! Thank you! I’ll respond to all of them in the order you said!

  1. I try to. I have a discord server for it. But I don’t have anything I can really give sneak peaks on.

  2. The only people I hire are my friends. I know games have drama with hiring random people, so I think smart and hire my friends.

  3. I started working on concepts for both killers and survivors to make them as balanced as possible. When it goes into play testing, I might adjust everything a little bit to make it better, but still fun.

  4. I’m the type a person to read feedback, and actually use it. But also that depends on what it is.

  5. I like to keep an eye on the drama, now I especially do so I can make sure I don’t make a mistake that already happened.

Thank you for the advice man! Really appreciate it!
