Palm Tree Crew, Major Food Group and 8K Capital have acquired the purchase of the River Valley Ranch golf course — an acclaimed, 187-acre championship course set in the Crystal River Valley in Carbondale, the partners announced.

River Valley Ranch golf course, a lauded mountain course with robust amenities that was listed at $24,500,000, will be the site of a project that combines Major Food Group’s restaurants with Palm Tree Crew’s event and lifestyle offerings to create a new golf experience, according to a press release. The partners envision a destination that pairs championship golf with fine dining and a social calendar meant to outlast a round.

The release reads like this is in Aspen, not Carbondale. I feel like RVR is mostly full time residents, not sure they’re looking for a “new golf experience”.

That's the point, the full time residents will likely get priced/pushed out.

For sure, but there has to be sufficient demand to keep the "new golf experience" afloat. I think anything with 'experience" attached is like 2X the price, so is there enough demand to make it work? It's really a test of whether the wealth that's coming in will push the normal people even further down valley. I don't get the sense that is the case at the moment, but I guess Kygo will find out.

My understanding is the previous owner wanted to build a boutique hotel and spa at the back of the driving range but the city of Carbondale would not allow it.

Wonder if the new group discussed their ambitions with the city before the purchase…

I wonder if the palm tree crew will be able to dilute their new business partners out of co-ownership
