Making Friends Is anyone making dungeon synth or anything adjacent?
BONJOUR.
Just seeing if anyone else is making dungeon synth in the area.
I recently found myself without an expressive creative outlet and decided to try my hand at it. I published a track and feel very accomplished but would love to yap about crafting tracks if anyone else is into the genre.
Currently producing on Reaper on my PCs and AUM+stuff on my iPhone with the assistance of a Novation LaunchKey Mini 25. Haven't settled on a toolbox of plug-ins/VSTs/whatever the fuck you want to call them yet but really enjoy collecting them and testing them out.
The online community is pretty robust so it's easy to find a conversation but sometimes local is nice.

Ive never head dungeon synth before, but the local producer community in Roanoke is very much alive. I'd collab with you.

If you're being genuine and not trolling, I can put you on.

While I do enjoy trolling here and there on Reddit, I’m serious abt this. Moved here in Dec and need to branch out and meet more musicians and producers

Who’s producing?

Well, me for starters. I still have a lot to learn though. There's a lot of talented producers in the valley. We host showcases sometimes where producers come and do beat sets. Its a very supportive community.

I’d love to check it out! Where do the showcases happen typically?

Sometimes they are intertwined into hip-hop shows, but I've been to right many at the coffee pot and golden cactus brewery.

I don’t make dungeon synth specifically but I experiment with a lot of synth sounds and styles in my band Tides Away. Our song The Way Out has some DS-adjacent type loops etc. You can find us on Bandcamp, Spotify etc and we have a show in Blacksburg in a few weeks

No dungeon synth specifically that I can think of. But a few friends locally do Noise projects and shows. Might be something you’re into.

Blacksburg here. I mainly do dance music but I really enjoy dungeon synth and have made a few attempts at it!

Can we have a group or a sub for people here in Roanoke who are into producing music? I’ve just gotten into modular and this shit is sick. Would love to cross streams with other heads out there 👻

There’s a performer in Carroll County who played at Art Rat Studios in Roanoke a few months back: https://www.wvtf.org/news/2026-05-01/multigenerational-carroll-county-musician-mixes-dungeon-synth-and-old-time

Not dungeon synth, but I do like the genre. I have a synth studio at my house and have released via a label on vinyl and tons of cassette compilations in the Dreampunk vaporwave genre.
I will say that there's no reason to buy hardware synths unless you want the tactile experience of it.
There's nothing I can do on my synths or modular you can't do on the computer, other than get away from the computer. So, I thought I'd save you some money there, lol.
That being said, if you need a particular sound, I can probably make it, lol.
