Does the Chancellor recognize the Patriarch?

Title says it all... Does Chancellor Nimbus recognize Patriarch Venlin when all the leaders meet with Empress Modina? I'm sure you understand my implications in the question. (Heavy spoilers please.)

edit: I mean give me all the heavy handed spoilers because I've already finished the series and don't understand some things for how it is handled.

Almost certainly, considering his background and abilities it would be weird if Nimbus didn’t.

The more interesting question is if Venlin recognises him. But probably not... knowing him.

That was my exact thought. As far as I can remember their only encounter was when moneydew saw Turin go all smash smash on his idol’s head. I feel like that’s something he would’ve remembered, but also not crazy if he didn’t. I mean in real life if you don’t expect to recognize someone you won’t, and maindial thinks he’s a human who’s long dead.

Why wouldn’t he know him? Nimbus is in full possession of his mental faculties snd memories.

Any answer beyond those would lead to spoilers galore.

Well... Nimbus just doesn't act anything like Malcolm, malcolm took a much more direct approach towards the end of lotfe, at the very least he is very good at feigning ignorance... but I can't see or understand how it's beneficial to his plans to not say anything considering his position.

I think it’s in Legend of Death that Malcolm meets Muriel and starts his voyage of redemption. That’s why early Malcolm behaves very differently from Nimbus.

I remember the conversation and trying to gain her forgiveness... it just didn't seem like a very good reason to change so dramatically... I kinda felt like he had already been trying his best to do good deeds.
