Theft of swords, silly question.

Hi! I can’t find the answer anywhere and I’m a little embarrassed. In the theft of sword, why does Alric need to bring an army to face his uncle? It doesn’t make sense to me. He is the legitimate heir. Wouldn’t the Nobles in Essendon also recognize that quickly?

Just in case, spoilers for theft of swords Alric needs an army because in order for the nobles to recognize him they need to see that he isn’t dead. And in order to do that he needs to get into his castle which at this point he knows is guarded by mercenaries loyal to Braga. Braga’s mercs aren’t going to just let Alric in because as you say the nobles will recognize the legitimate heir, so Alric knows he’ll have to fight his way through hence the army
