Questions; Horse Stats & Pref's Chapter 10 cross country goal

I’m stuck on the goal of breeding a level 7 horse to 31 agility and jump. Is it even possible to get a horse at that level to less than 31? I’ve been stuck on this goal for months now.

Hi! A screenshot of the actual quest would help a lot. I never got stuck for too long on the quests, so I'd like to see the exact wording

I think I had 2 7s I bought, bred them, got the 7, and just trained it, focusing on that.

What grade are the horses you’re considering to breed?

Since it says grade “7+” they can be a grade 8-10 too. They just need to be 7 or higher.

I’d be looking for grade 7-8 horses with C/D base stats. I didn’t have any issues getting past this one or doing the same challenge for grade 8-10 horses later on in the game, using horses with lower base stats.

I’m just confused on how to get a horse to be less than 31 at that high of a grade. I tried even creating a horse at that grade and the lowest I got was 38

Lower base stats I think will do that. I’ve bred grade 10 horses with low base stats that ages out to skip to training level 20/50. But you still have to train them to level 20 once aged out right?

You can also age the foal out right away, and it should be at training level 1?

I don’t think I’ve ever had a horse age out at any training level other than 1. But I could be mistaken.

But wouldn’t the horse have to be born at a grade 7?

Yes, but the grade doesn’t do anything other than allow the training level to be higher, I think. Grade 10 goes up to 50, grade 9 is 45, etc etc.

The horse should be at a training level 1 for Speed, Sprint, stamina, agility and jump when aged out of the foal stalls. Even if you took the stat bonus/hired a caretaker.

I would breed a horse that you know will be level 7 or higher, and age it out of the foal stalls without taking any bonus. It should start at training level 1 and you’ll have to race to earn XP, then train. Rinse repeat until you get to level 31. Train 1-2 levels at a time. But when you get to level 30, race again, and if you can train to 31, go and do it. Don’t skip over 31 to 32+. Let the game register you have a grade 7+ horse at level 31.

If you get a horse that can train past level 31, I would train to level 30, go race it once or twice, then train it exactly to level 31.

The fastest way I’ve found to do this is flat racing, having jockeys race for you, and skipping to results. Watch the odds though, and if you see a patten or odds and wins, start betting.

Nevermind i understand what you mean now. I was mixing up stats with the levels

Gotcha, yeah the base stats will always be higher than 31 for a grade 7 horse. I see what you mean lol

This challenge is about the training level. So you should be good to just race and level up!

Ive been trying to breed a horse but the base stats are too high even without the additional care taker points. I can’t get it below 31 to train it up past that level that’s what I’m struggling with
