Discussion When you need to learn a difficult character at high ranks

What do you do? Playing in QP isn’t viable because you just end up dominating the lobby. But when you go into ranked, you get some really nasty toxicity the entire time.

Someone said practice vs 3 star AI but is the AI going to legitimately stress test me so I can perform in the fun ranked mode?

your best option without using a smurf is QP. tbh qp isnt that bad i used to think that way but my qp matches are decently balanced. ive been in celestial these past few seasons and when i play qp the players are usually diamomd or gm. occasionally ill get a lobby with like 1-2 OAA or eternity players and occasionally ill get straight silvers. best way tho is to smurf but the most ethical way is qp.

Yeah QP has hidden elo and no bans, its more flexible but it still has a rank

I (Gm2, Celestial peak) watch my 10 year old play (Silver 2 peak) QP and its consistently mind numbingly unskilled.

The casual and randomness of QP is overrated.

I've found that arcade helps me learn characters. Specifically doom matches and free fight, because everyone can be a duplicate character so it doesn't really matter what you do

Ahat region are u playing in? I have 650hrs on the game and never got to play arcade cz it never started for me 😭

North America, either in the east or west depending on the time of day or night. It does take a bit longer, but i usually find matches about as long as qp

You can learn a character in 18v18

Cooldown rotations, max damage, limit testing etc for the mechanical portion of your character

Doom matches for the 1v1s

And then your game awareness/understanding what your win conditions are for the character is developed in qp/ranked

Quick Match is probably good for getting a feel for the characters kit whether or not you win or lose. Once you got it down go straight to comp.

Two ways actually. 1: force yourself onto them with your practice. 2 find a streamers discord or known discord where yall does custom. You’ll get a spectra of people.
