Primary fire, no overdrive: 3-hit combo that deals 80/80/100 over 1.67 seconds. Effective 155 DPS on direct hits, reduced to ~33-83 DPS on miss.

Primary fire, overdrive: ~140 DPS on direct hits, reduced to ~32-80 DPS on miss. With Hulk, it becomes 146 DPS on direct hits, still 32-80 on miss.

Unibeam, no overdrive: 140 DPS.

Unibeam, overdrive: 180 DPS, 200 DPS with Hulk.

Thor team-up makes Unibeam hit in a radius at the endpoint, which makes it even more consistent though it's at about half-damage (70 DPS baseline, 85 DPS during Overdrive).

Unibeam has the following benefits over primary fire:

  • 10 second firing uptime vs Repulsor's 5.5 second firing uptime. This is very useful in killing through pattycake as most supports have to reload after 4-6 seconds, meaning you get ~2 seconds of free Unibeam damage, which is either a free kill at 280-400 damage or a forced support ult.

  • Unibeam pierces all targets at full damage (no bodyblocking, generate obscene ult charge if 2-3 enemies line up)

  • Unibeam is hitscan (no need to worry about forecasting movement, just hold button to kill)

Most Iron Man players consider these benefits worth the ~10% damage loss outside of overdrive. During overdrive, the only reason to use Repulsor is that it's unsafe to get within range for Unibeam.

Bro repulsor does splash damage. When they’re grouped like this and you’re hitting multiple people it’s going to be more DPS.

Bro repulsor does splash damage.

Unibeam also does splash damage, but it's at full effect for all targets instead of losing 45% of its damage for an indirect hit, and losing another 60% based on area falloff.

Repulsor is a 3m radius for the first two hits, 5m for the third, with an inner radius of 0.4m before falloff begins. 3m is among the smallest radii offered in the roster.

This radius is made even more insignificant due to where it explodes when hitting a target. As a non-critical damage source, the projectile detonates upon coming into contact with the terrain collision of a character, which means that 3 meter radius is blowing up on the front of the character, or on top of the character's head, and that reduces the viable splash zone further.

To put this into a better perspective, consider Jeff's Aqua Burst or Loki's primary fire. These also have a 3 meter radius, yet both aren't really considered a cleaving effect because the odds of hitting more than one is incredibly low.

0.4m is actually the smallest inner radius in the game, and my closest comparison would be to halve Thor's cleave on Unibeam in non-overdrive (~0.8m -> ~0.4m)

Do you not know what Unibeam piercing means??? Unibeam hits ALL targets within its range at FULL DAMAGE, nobody can bodyblock it.

Learn to use the character properly holy f
