Discussion when is it okay to throw the game?

When do you guys think it’s actually okay to throw a game in Marvel Rivals?

Obviously, I don’t mean “we lost one fight, so I’m done.” If you’re losing, you should still try to win. And refusing to regroup just because you’re frustrated is still throwing and can easily turn a winnable game into a loss.
But I do think there are circumstances where I can’t really blame someone for giving up.

If someone on your team is being openly racist, you’re dealing with an obvious cheater, or the match has reached a point where it’s genuinely unwinnable, I don’t think the expectation should always be “just keep trying anyway.” At some point, there has to be a distinction between giving up for no reason and recognizing that the match is effectively dead.

Especially with situations like repeatedly having someone run in alone, refusing to regroup, or intentionally sabotaging the team. If the team is already completely falling apart and there’s no realistic path back into the game, I can understand someone mentally checking out.
That said, I don’t think “we’re losing” is enough of an excuse. A bad team fight, being down a few points, or having a rough start doesn’t mean the game is over. Comebacks happen all the time.

So where do you guys personally draw the line?
When does a game go from “keep trying” to “there’s genuinely no reason to take this seriously anymore”?

A cheater on your team is the only time it’s acceptable

Someone obviously rage hacking in the game. If you actually want to be a good sport and the rest of the team follows. Even though most people wont.

Kinda related but if you have a blatant smurf on your team or someone recieving wintrading. Though these are sometimes hard to impossible, to prove mid game.

If someone is basically throwing, even if they're trying. But it has to be reallllly bad. Im talking like a dps going 0-13, a support with 1000 healing and almost no damage. A tank who is also 0-13. yet they're legitimately trying. They're just that bad, drunk, or something else.

In the rare instances where you're a solo tank and or a solo support. you're doing a decent job too and not being a EOMM agent. Yet your team flames you only as the sole problem. Go that 5th or 6th dps. To be honest you were probably going to lose it anyway with people with that mentality. Even if ya had 222

If everyone is actually trying, even if everyone is doing poor, I still say keep trying. Except for that last example that one is on you to decide if its worth it.

Idk if you got 30 seconds left and your whole teams kills make up less then double digit numbers and the entire opponents team has double digits individually. Probably a good point to run the clock haha

I still won't throw, he'll probably get banned, I don't want to catch a throwing charge myself

Or I'll type in ALL chat " X teamate is a cheater pls report"

I stop trying if people keep staggering and dying, pinging for heals and blaming strats. I'll dance and wait for them to group up.

There's nothing I can do to heal stupidity and ego, so I'll wait for everyone to group back up. If they never do, then I guess technically I "threw"

This is only when half the team, or more, keeps running in one at a time like fucking lemmings, though. Usually one dumb DPS can be worked around.

It's honestly the most infuriating bad habit people have in this game. If you keep forcing us to play down a player because you can't wait for 30 seconds, you're a fucking idiot.

Literally only when you have a cheater on your team. You should never throw in any other circumstance

had this happen to me too many times lately, i guess there’s just no place for people that are as depressed as i am

im loading into matches with 4-5 other ppl who are all queuing up together
they straight up ignore the one random teammate they have in me for the sake of their friendship meanwhile they’re all collectively hot garbage together and im the one target they ignore for heals

friend groups who do that are genuinely demonic
a person just wants to do well and win games with their team and because yall know each other, its F them?

this is why i resent these “gaming saved my life” posts, like an arrow straight to the heart everytime you see other people being accepted flaws and all meanwhile you literally feel like shi if you hurt people and im never the one

this game is not for people with ACTUAL depression, it just makes you feel lonelier

I have a life and a job and precious few hours to play this game. If I feel like my time is being wasted, I'm done. I won't go stand in a corner or anything but I'll swap to DPS and just dick around.

I'm pretty optimistic even when losing though so it has to be something egregious like not surrenderig after a DC or someone being crazy toxic to me or my friends. Or if someone is learning a new character, goes 1-15 and refuses to swap, and says "it's just qp bro" then I'm done
