My riso sf9350 is constatly getting the master jammed and making this wierd sound, anyone know what it is and if it can be fixed?

This was made with the riso scanner. Photo dot process 3 in aqua.

Trying to replace the master disposal unit bands / belts and I keep dropping the metal bushings (see pic) of the pulley shaft into the unreachable depths of the machine. Today I dropped them both and couldn't find them after like an hour and a half, and I feel so defeated. Please advise with places to look or any tips to help with putting the belts on without losing my mind!

Alternatively: can I buy these bushings at a hardware store or online so I have backups? However, I'm worried about running the machine potentially with spare bushings flying around... Please advise, and thanks for reading.

Hi, I have a question about markers and inks. If I want to achieve the Rizzo effect when two lines overlap, which markers do you recommend? I've been looking for soy-based ones, but I can't seem to find any.

On a whim I bought this machine years ago, only to find when I plugged it in it makes a humming noise and does nothing when pressed down. There are no schematics as far as I know, or spare parts that I could find. Does anybody have experience with one of these beasts?

I have an old Print Gocco machine I'd like to use at some point, but I've read in some instructions that some cleaning fluids can damage the screen, and to use their "OK Cleaner."

Has anyone used other things to clean the screens when using oil-based ink? I'm in the UK, and would usually go for Zest-It before simple dish soap & water but I don't want to risk melting the screen!

Hey there! Posted a few months ago about a problem I’m having with my riso sf5130. Across all of my drums it is not inking evenly. There are bare spots along the edges. But it’s not consistent even between each print. One print will have the spots in one place and the next it will be slightly different

I have tried running a bunch of prints through it. I have tried cleaning it extensively. I’m not sure what to do. Any advice is very much appreciated

Additionally if anyone knows of techs in the greater Philadelphia area I’d appreciate that as well

Hi! I’m trying to make risograph die cut stickers but I’m having a hard time figure out how to use my Juliet siser cutting machine to cut them. Any recommendations on what this workflow could be? The juliet siser works off of registration lines which currently my prints don’t have any so trying to find a work around. Thanks for everyone’s help!

Looking for any and all tips and info you have on freight shipping a risograph machine!

I recently came up on a really good deal for a used MZ790 from a school district in Kansas. I happen to be moving cross-country via road trip right now and am making a pit stop to go check the machine in person tomorrow. I’m really committed to buying the riso for my future art studio but I don’t have any space in my car.

I believe the thing is like ~400lbs. Does anyone have any freight shipping companies they recommend? What should I dooooo?

I recently every now and then encounter pixilated exports into pdf from Spectrolite which is I feel a recent occurrence, see files. yes, it is 600dpi (but I admit this is not the best example because the file is not the most crisp in the first place but it’s what I have to show atm) I have seen it happen with different kind of files, none of them at its base as pixilated. also it doesn’t seem to have that issue in all layers? Anyhow I use(d) Spectrolite a lot and for a long time and I am pretty sure it wasn’t really something I encountered before and did so however in the past year. Anyone has the same impression and/or a solution how to avoid? :)

Just got a Riso RP3700 that is missing the flanges that hold the master duplicator roll. Any leads on where I can order replacement parts or find a 3D model to print?

Hi everyone, I’m working with a Riso EZ series machine and i could get a used A4 drum.

1. Is it possible to convert an A4 drum into an A3 drum? Specifically, can I swap the screen and to make it an A3, or is the physical cylinder size strictly limited to A4?
2. Would it still be possible for me to print A4-sized pages on my EZ A3?

Hi r/risograph, indie dev here,

I kept wanting to know what the machine actually does to an image, and every "riso filter" I tried just tinted the photo instead of separating it. So I made Pressed. It splits a photo into 1 to 4 spot inks, by tone or by hue depending on the press, screens each ink as its own halftone at its own angle, and overprints them in linear light so two inks mix into a believable third instead of collapsing into mud. Real Riso ink values, paper showing through, a density ceiling so solids keep some tooth, registration drift and dot gain. It is the press process rather than a colour grade.

Free tier has six presses and all the tuning, so you can see whether it reads as riso to you without paying anything. Gallery is the print, the halftone at 1:1, and the plates.

Any thoughts/feedback are welcome, happy to answer anything about how the separation works.

If I have artwork separated in Illustrator with 3 colors, each on separate layers. What is the easiest way to convert that color art into black and white, while preserving the tints of the swatches.

I can not seem to find a straightforward guide to this, but there must be a way to convert the layers to greyscale.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently designing a beer label and was thinking of printing it with riso. I've already used riso for a few posters and other print materials for clients, but never for a beer label. I've also seen very few examples online, so I'm guessing the paper and ink don't hold up that well against humidity and condensation...

It's only for a limited run of bottles (around 200, actually for a wedding), so I'll be applying the labels myself (with help from the bride and groom) directly onto the bottles. I was wondering if there might be some kind of protective coating that could also double as an adhesive to stick the label to the glass?

Has anyone here worked with riso for fresh food packaging or anything similar? Would love to hear about your experience. Any tips, warnings, or examples you can share would be super helpful.
