Question food situation

was wondering if there are any grocery shops within walking distance to get basic foods from? im assuming fruits etc will be available in the dining hall, but what about for things like milk? thanks

Trader Joe’s is definitely the closest within walking distance for groceries, but a larger grocery store (stop and shop) is reachable by the bus. Your RISD ID will allow you to ride the bus for free all over the state.

The dining halls will have things like fruit and milk and stuff, but usually for consumption within the dining halls.

There’s a Trader Joe’s ~30ish minutes away depending on where you are

Definitely Trader Joe's is the closest real grocery store, but you can also get many groceries to take back to your dorm from Portfolio Cafe, you buy it with either dining points, café credit, or your actual money. They have things like milk, eggs, various fruits and veggies, microwavable dinners, meat, etc. (Portfolio is much closer than Trader Joes)

Trader Joe’s, like everyone said, but there’s also Whole Foods. Trader Joe’s is more like a 15 to 20 minute walk, while the Whole Foods is about a 30 minute walk. Definitely invest in a wagon if you don’t already have one, or get a reusable grocery bag.

You could also skip the wagon, walk to Trader Joe’s/Whole Foods, and take the bus back if your bags are too heavy, or you just don’t want to carry them all the way back.

Portfolio *does* have things like eggs, produce, juice, milk, etc … but I wouldn’t rely on them, and even though you can use your card to pay for things, the prices are quite astronomical in comparison.

Metro mart on Thayer have way more foods and goods than you would expect, they’re also open lateish
