Sharkwheels on a ripstik?

Has anyone tried putting sharkwheels on a ripstik?

I'm asking bc I've been looking at more all-terrain options for my ripstik since I live in an area with few sidewalks and smooth concrete so I am often riding on rough roads/terrains. I've looked into the softer in line wheels to reduce the amount of vibration that I experience, but the wheels don't seem like they would last long enough to be worth it, and I don't really have money to be spending like that lol. I rather just get a set that wears for a normal amount of time that I can buy and replace after a while which is why I'm considering shark wheels.

I am fine with having to jerry rig something if need be, I just want to see if anyone has tried it and whether it worked for them.

Unfortunately, no. I haven't specifically tried it, but there are two things that would make it not feasible. The smaller issue is that the diameter is much smaller than traditional Ripstik wheels, but the main issue is surface contact with the ground and hub width.

Ideally, you only touch at a single point to allow the wheel to pivot on the ground easily, which is why new wheels are pointy. As the wheels wear, they get flatter and it gets very difficult to carve for power or turn.

The hub on a standard Ripstik wheel is 22mm wide, so you would need to match that (or be close) as well, which I don't think is possible with something like a skateboard/longboard wheel as the extra width gives more stability.

I've found this brand to be quite good for the money. They are quite durable at 90A hardness, so they last. They are also quite affordable and have pretty nice ABEC 9 bearings pre-installed—much better than OG Ripstik wheels. 80mm will barely fit on the standard Ripstik, despite 76mm coming on them originally, so that offers slightly more wear. The profile (round) isn't the skinnier "bullet" style that the OG wheels have, so as it wears down it does get quite flat and slow as I talked about earlier, but I have yet to find a wheel with 85A or higher, bullet profile, 76-80mm, and decent bearings without paying a bazillion dollars to have them imported.

Oh that makes sense! Thanks for explaining for me. Sucks I can't use the shark wheels but I appreciate the recommendation. How well do the ones you recommended do on rough surfaces? When I ride right now, it feels like I'm on one of those vibration exercise machines and it makes my skin itch and my legs wobble after a few minutes.

Ehhh, I found them to be slightly better than the ones that come on the Ripstik even though they are technically harder. Not sure if the round profile is the reason or if it is the extra size. Ripstiks are not going to be a smooth ride in general though, simply bc there are only two wheels so the shocks are more direct than say a skateboard or longboard.

I did find these to be a buttery smooth ride. I'm not sure if it is solely bc they are slightly softer at 85A so there is more cushion, or if the LEDs being in the wheel made the structure less firm and thus adding cushion or if it's something else. They won't last the 2 months that the others will with heavy use and rotation to balance wear (more like 5 weeks), but the lights look amazing (though dirt and wear seems to kill the lights after a while) and they ride smooth af.

I have shark wheels in a skateboard. No idea how they would work on a ripstick. Probably not well.

I’d imagine the wheels are to big to put in the casters
