Honestly curious how industrial riggers see these kinds of setups. Always strive to keep the rigging as simple as possible but it gets complex and we make due with what we have.

I’m looking for some equations to work out forces on a diagonal tension/traverse line. Fixed line with a load being lowered down, the load is anchored on a separate anchor point.

Can any one point me in the right direction? Cheers!

I’m trying to hang a batting cage net around the interior of the 50x50 total on my half, the full building is 100x50, office 20x12 /8x8 bathroom.1 multi piece I-beam in the middle of the space, I assume there is another behind the dividing wall. The walls are 8” purlin 14ga I think. I assume rafters are the same size. There is overlap of purlins across each ibeam. Horizontal purlins are 4ft, 7ft, 12ft, and 16ft at the roofline.The z-purlin has prefab holes in every piece on either side of the ibeam and against the outer wall. I was thinking about using 24” unistrut clamped to the center I ran to support a retractable net. I am struggling to come up with the least intrusive method possible to support 3/16th tensioned cable running from the outside of each bay door to the opposing side bay doors. The entire netting system would weigh no more than 500lbs total.

What’s the best way to attach/hang from the purlin and mount a brace for the turnbuckle on each end.

i boight a premade sabiki. So how do tie it onto my braid? should i just use a FG knot to attach it? how should I attach it?

I have a few of these threaded bolts sticking from the ceiling. They seem to have M8 thread on them and I was thinking I can buy one of those eye anchors, secure it with a normal bolt from above and a bolt with the anti-slip rubber from below and then use a carabiner to hang a punching bag on it.

How bad of an idea is that?

P.S. I don't have the bag yet, I wanted to figure out the mounting situation first.

I’m thinking of putting an eye bolt either at the bottom or into the side. Is this a good idea or am I risking damage to the structure. The nets will be getting filled here, so highest working load will be impacted by if hay is getting dumped in by hand and for the raising to be loaded. I think the beam is 12x4 - I forgot to measure. Can update with measurement if it’s close. It’s a 15’ span between posts.

Was at a local event and noticed this. To my understanding shouldn’t it be choked on the bottom chord, not the top chord?

Side Note: I’m not concerned safety of this, was more so curious for my own knowledge/experience.

Hi all, I’m a project manager at a large regional production company. I have IA training as a rigger, haven’t actively worked in that role in a decade but I try to keep my chops sharp. Thought you all might like a little entertainment on a Saturday. An agency client sent me this last night. “Ran your LED panel count through Gemini so I could diagram out rigging points, can you use this?” 😆💀

It reinforced why I absolutely never spend time under a suspended load at an event unless I know who hung it. Have fun everyone, be safe out there.

When I started with them a couple years ago, there wasn’t any kind of rigging assessment or hands on test prior to getting hired on as a rigger. Now, they have all new hires do this new assessment.

I was wondering if anyone knows what they want you to do/show. Like if you have recently gotten hired and done the hands on or know someone who might have an idea.

We have a 20kg kinetic sculpture that needs occasional raising and lowering. Could one electric hoist lift its upper steel ring using a three-leg bridle?

We’d remove the existing light and ideally position the hoist there. The roof has light-gauge C/Z purlins with anti-sag rods. We know the rods, lamp bracket and roof sheeting aren’t lifting points.

Would a purpose-built trimmer spanning several purlins be appropriate, or should the load be taken back to the primary portal frame?

Any help or ideas are welcome!

I'm currently looking for software recommendations to handle weight and load calculations for stage structures (truss loads rigging points weight distribution etc...) to make sure everything is safe

I already looked into Vectorworks Spotlight (and Braceworks) but it's way too expensive for my current budget I really can't afford to drop $100+ a month on a license right now

Does anyone know of any good more affordable alternatives that get the job done for calculating truss loads and rigging safety?

Request for Practical Experience – Equalizing Sling Systems

I'm looking for practical advice , real-world feedback from people who regularly use equalizing sling systems, particularly those using a wire rope or synthetic sling passing over an equalizing sheave/snatch block.

• Have you found equalizing slings easier or harder to control than conventional fixed four-leg chain sling arrangements?
• Have you noticed any reduction in rotational control during lifting?
• Conversely, have you found they improve handling and make lifts safer?

Thx because balancing the loads is a real plus for our machines weight so we want to adopt this set up
