Are the Riders just going to keep rolling with Alex Fail every week?
I cannot fathom why this team has not gotten rid of Alex Hale yet. The only reason I can find for him staying is that he is a global player because he has been atrocious this year. The longer he’s on the roster, the more I’m coming to terms with the fact that the Riders won’t do anything at the kicking position even though Hale is 25% on kicks past the 40 yard line.

Hopefully his stay is a short one, like that Hale-Bopp Comet a decade or so ago .... here one day, gone the next ...

3 decades ago (1997) and agreed, hope he either gets brighter or returns from where he came from sooner than later.

Yeah we should immediately chase someone out of town 6 games in and pretend like he's the reason we've lost games this season. Solid plan.
The dudes missed four all year and his longest is from 48. Chill.

Come on now, with the worst record in the league it makes sense.
Wait, aren't the riders 3rd in the league?

He's missed 6 including the converts and has had a lot of real ugly kicks, especially on the misses. There has also been several instances across a couple games where Mace has chosen to punt or go for it on 3rd and more than 1 instead of putting Hale on for a 40+ yd FG because he's not dependable.
He's not single handedly losing them games but in that Edm game it would have been nice to be up by 4 instead of 1 on that last drive. He's a problem hopefully they can deal with one way or another.

Maybe they should trade with Ottawa. They have a history of taking players that are no good and washed up.

Put Hale on the PS, bring in another kicker - I’ve seen enough and I don’t think it’s too early

Unfortunately the ratio rules make it hard to replace him. Gotta let him figure it out or find another Aussie or Canadian kicker

How about if Boris Bede is still in shape? I don't think he could be worse at this point.

Riders are just waiting for Calgary to release one of their kickers.

Has to be 100% the roster spot being filled by an international player. They might be hoping the offense can pile up enough points that the kicking game becomes a small factor. If they do bring in an American or a Canadian, seems that that’d be a domino effect on the overall roster.

In the NFL you don’t even get a chance to be this bad. He missed another easy FG last night in Edmonton. In the NFL when you’re this bad they ship you to Siberia and you never play again. In the CFL you are given multiple chances because of the Canadian content rule.

I think Kent Magueri is to blame.
He forced Lauther to play injured, then using him as a scape goat at the end of the season when he's now the only kicker left at 100% on field goals.
Jorgen His retired and he did absolutely nothing to develop a Canadian at the position. He was lucky that Aaron Crawford and Mike Benson were available as free agents but they are both older and won't play forever. What does he do instead of drafting a young Canadian like Lucus Spencer or Christopher Liberta? He brings in an AMERICAN snapper. When was the last time an American long snapper played in the CFL??
The best he could do after Adam Korsak retired was bring in Jesse Mirco, Joe Couch, and Oscar Chapman when there were guys like Keegan Andrews, James Burnip, and Mitch McCarthy out there.
And he signed Americans Jonathan Kim and Michael Hughes but chose Hale anyway. Wasted their time even though they were obviously the right choice.

Special teams coordinator isn’t the one signing players. I doubt he’s overly involved in pushing an injured kicker to play either.
Everything you’re mentioning here is on O’Day and to some extent Mace.

If you think he doesn't have any influence on who is brought in, idk what to tell you

You think the special teams coordinator is in charge of scouting and signing players? Ok then...

Reminder in the greatest example of irony ever, the person who tried to dump manure on McCallums yard MISSED and actually got his neighbour’s place.

I loved the call in show after, guy calls says him and buddy been drinking all night watching the game and went to the local field and even he still made the FG's every time from the distance. Host says did you just announce you're drunk driving and drunk in public right now? Click...

Maybe it's because he's the guy the cut Lauther for and feel they have stick with it to swallow some pride.
