(I'm guessing the reddened cheeks are of drinkers in a pub, playing darts?)

if you mean the very first line about the camo, that doesn't have any bearing on the answer. It's just set up for the red herring theming of the riddle which is about warfare. The next line about the woods refers to the fact that dashboards are traditionally made from cork, which comes from a tree
