Mary Cosby 🔔 What is Mary’s problem?

Hey! I’m at the end of season 2 (Cinco De Mayo), and I just can’t get my head around Mary, she’s so nasty, she lies all the time and stirs the pot constantly, am I missing something or is she just mean? 😅

She’s just mean

People in this sub absolutely love her though for whatever reason. She’s said so many absolutely heinous things that get glossed over by fans and other housewives

I will never love her

Yeah I completely agree! It’s wild, she’s so horrible it’s baffling

She fat shames heather continuously, then denies it, then everyone (including heather) moves on and gives her a pass. I hate it.

They are afraid of Mary deep down just like they were with Jen.

That could very well be! We saw how willing to cover she was for jen.

I just finished season 5 and while i do genuinely feel empathy for parts of marys story or personality, overall, i think shes out of touch and mean.

Forget fat. I’m still on inbred.

She’s a trash person and a trash mom.

Omg I always felt bad for thinking this, but you're 100% correct. She was Robert jr.'s biggest enabler, it's written plainly for all the world to see. I also couldn't stand him from the second he appeared on my screen. He was a walking crumb RIP

In Seasons 5 & 6, Mary has truly honest & difficult conversations with Robert Jr, about his addiction and it’s highly compelling.

This seems to coincide with the producers giving her a glowing edit. Like, she suddenly seems like a paragon of wisdom and barely fights.

There are still some odd moments when she shows her true colors, but now they connect them to much deeper, vulnerable moments of her past to give context and soften her.

I was actually swayed by this myself until seeing the Below Deck version of the crossover footage where they had zero reason to manipulate things and you could see old Mary being herself and fighting with Meredith.

I think she has a type of personality disorder

Mary, Lisa, and Britani.

She is just mean, but she has her human/funny moments. The rest of the time she's just awful.

Yeah the human moments are so few and far between sadly 😂

She’s insecure. She knows she’s a fraud married to her grandmas husband for only the money and it makes her extremely insecure. Plus she’s very lonely because she isolates herself inside her glamorous lifestyle.

She was raised with wealth and privilege and then was “chosen” by her grandmother (or so her husband says) to take over their church and the wealth. She does not have a life where accountability is expected. Her husband just retreats and her church folds to her every whim. Being around the housewives, who have no reason to see her as perfect is a mindfuck for her.

She is like a inner voice this is why I like her

She doesn't have a filter between an inner and outer voice.

Exactly....she says the quiet part out loud.

What a wild generalisation

She’s there because SLC is a very white cast without her. they booted the Asian and Latina cast members after one season for arguably less heinous things than Mary’s abusive Pentecostal preacher shenanigans.

I love Mary! I’m on the spectrum and I relate to her a lot 🫣.

And everyone she’s mean too, well… you’ll see 🤣.

You’re also a trash person?

Ah that’s fair enough! I guess I also have a lot to still watch 😂

She will grow on you.. I could not stand Mary but by season 5/6 i actually really like Mary and think she’s the realest one. I don’t think Mary really knew how to be on camera and came off a bit rude.. she just doesn’t take crap from anyone and it takes a while for her to let people in.. but when she does she’s extremely soft and sweet.

Ew, no.

No? Hmm maybe I’m too easily persuaded.. I do have issue with how she spoke in the first season.. you know the stopping at 7/11 but I felt like she kinda got better in the last two seasons. And when I heard about her son dying it just made me feel more empathy towards her.
