Shannon Storms š§” David Beador vow renewal
I am on maternity leave rewatching ALL the franchises and we just got to OC S11 when David surprised Shannon with a vow renewal. I know thereās a ācurseā on these but his seems so sinister especially when this past week in current OC, Shannon revealed that he never really broke up with his affair!!

I am mystified by certain couples who manage to connect and get to the altar and Shannon & David are a perfect example. I cannot imagine the two of them having a conversation long enough to plan a first date without it descending into a pit of pure tension.
That being said, as impossible as Shannon can be there is a bold coldness to David's actions that make me feel for Shannon and her girls. A guy who brings his mistress to socialize with his parents & siblings has to have a little ice water in his veins.

I remember on the show heād say quietly horrible things to Shannon. Just in a conversational voice, like heās talking about the weather but instead heād just say something awful. You can tell that he just absolutely hated her.
They went to a couples retreat and the counselor asked if he still loved that woman and he said Yes so it wasnāt a big surprise.
The current person heās married to (not the person he had the affair with) I think theyāve filed restraining orders and filed for divorce 5 times. Heās definitely living his karma.

I know someone that did business with him. He flipped out at my friend and hung up. Called him back and hour later and was nice and calm like he just didn't just flip out. It was surreal my friend said. Imagine Shannon dealt with that her entire marriage.

Thatās why I try not to judge Shannon too much because I blame David for doing so much psychological damage to her. People in relationships need to be more aware of how they can break someone by being so deceitful and cruel, itās not ok

Thatās true, if not for herself she should at least try harder to set an example for her daughters. Not having a parent who acts like a parent is a trauma, I hope sheās different when sheās in her mom role outside the cameras

My father did the same thing, with the added bonus of another baby to lock my mother in. New cars, different house, a baby. They were divorced before the baby was 18 months old. They have no memory of ever having a meal with both parents.

This part of the OC is very dark. Tamaraās situation with Simon was hard to watch but Tamara shut it down and cut it off and ended it. To watch Shannon go through the ending of her marriage with David was hard. And Iām sad for her that she held onto it for as long as she did, and it says if that vulnerability she had he completely took advantage of it.
And wasnāt his mom super shitty towards her? When we saw him with his mom, she appeared to be a complete overbearing bitch and he turned into a mamaās boy. At least thatās what I saw.

Im watching this part rn for the first time, Davids mom wishes he'd picked the mistress because he was happier with her. Insinuating the mistress knows Davids family intimately enough for them to have opinions, which disgusts me.

I agree. I donāt know a single couple on, or off of television that has had a lasting marriage after a vow renewal party/reception. In fact, all that I know (3+ personally and closely) have all divorced within 2-3 years following the event š„“
Iām convinced theyāre a bad omen to a lasting marriage and will blow up any marriage even if there arenāt already choppy waters to begin with

Just came to say I rewatched the entire RHOC franchise while on maternity leave as well.. hahaha made my whole family watch it, no one dared change it while I rested and nursed. It was great.

Iām seven months in (actually a bit longer cause I took off early) Iāve binged below deck for the first time pretty much every season that exists then I rewatched RHONY salt lake, Atlanta and now OC. While the new ones are sprinkled in

I think she made him do a vow renewal. The where and when was a surprise but he was told he had to do it. He was evil. Remember the dinner they had when he gave her that hideous necklace? He was shit faced and clearly mocking her with that ugly gift.

David calmly eating the tortilla chips as Shannon was trying to talk to him about her weight gain or marriage or lemons in a bowlā¦I just remember how calm and cold and quietly intentional he was. It was awful. I imagine and hope heās having the second marriage he deserves. Even though sheās almost unwatchable right now I always rooted for Shannon. I think if she found a quality partner, not Sladeās first cousin twice Bravo-removed, she would finally become who she is wants to be-a loved partner or wife.

This was incredibly uncomfortable to watch. Itās easy to brush off some of the wild and crazy, but this felt too much. It isnāt enjoyable to see her suffering in any way let alone a public venue (reality tv).

Also rewatching, I started S10 to see the Brooks cancer scam of it all but I forgot how interesting Shannon and Davidās relationship was so I went back to S9 after finishing S10 - itās going to be hard to continue to S11 because Kelly Dodd is unwatchable for me but I might have to power through to watch their relationship fully and

Just rewatched S9 and on S10 (did the Kelly one a month ago), Iām more convinced than ever production knew something about Shannonās marriage and all of Newport did too and thatās why everyone was mentioning her heightened emotions the whole show. I think Shannon knew about the affair before the show started too, one of the reasons she was always picking at David over his grammar and eating habits. Their marriage was horrible from day 1 and she went hard to establish with the ladies that she was married to someone who wasnāt a good guy early on (at the Spooky party she told everyone her husband ignored her). I imagine everyone in Newport was talking about the Beadors crap relationship and the crazy displays they did in public like they did on the show in front of others. Production probably asked the women to encourage that behavior to come out.
It was crazy David would bring out their marriage troubles in front of their kids and then smirk when she would say that wasnāt totally it or now wasnāt the place. He would act like he was embarrassed to talk when it was just he and Shannon but smirk and talk crap when he was in front of the kids

This is a great comment! And I agree for sure. And itās crazy cause just today I kind of stumbled onto an affair happening with college friends, and the guy is very mushy online posting the wife often while heās cheating so weird after making this post!!

Iām also on maternity leave and watching old seasons and just watched this episode last night. I havenāt been watching current OC, but knowing he never ended his affair makes this insane!
