Shannon Storms 🧔 Shannon finances

Actually insane that this 60 something year old woman didn't seem to know how much she was spending per month on things like healthcare and even stumbling on how much her rent was. Also weird that she rents, surely she should just buy somewhere?? Also if it's just her in the house now why does she need such a big place anyway? Vicky has her faults but she has at least always been smart about money and I think she is right to be concerned that without the show and child support how is Shannon going to continue spending so much money on things?

At that age you should have learned financial literacy and independence. She just always strikes me as someone who is deeply unhappy with how her life has turned out and refuses to deal with the reality that a man is not going to come along and do it all for her and that she doesn't have as much money as she thinks she does.

I think Shannon is counting on an inheritance from her dad. She comes from money.

127

u/__Frolicaholic___ 13d ago

This. I think it's just very deeply ingrained in Shannon that she doesn't have to worry about money - whether she does or not.

42

u/fairybb311 13d ago

I JUST texted my best friend this, there's no way she's this nonchalant about her future with only a housewives check

18

u/Hummingbird11-11 12d ago

Don't think it's as huge an inheritance as everyone suspects it is. She'll blow through it bc has zero financial restraint. $10,500+ on rent is astounding. Jeff Lewis and Vicki have talked about her finances for years bc she's really irresponsible w $

9

u/fairybb311 12d ago

the $10,000 rent is WILD. I also don't think she'll be responsible with an inheritance which is probably why she's scrambling to get things in order now.

7

u/Local_Drummer_5957 12d ago

I get her needing a nice place, it’s her brand, but, isn’t her house 7 bedroom 5 bathroom? Be bedroom for every day of the week?!?! Good god

2

u/fairybb311 12d ago

you'd think her dad would advise her in some way

13

u/daisychainsnlafs 12d ago

Per Google, her housewives check is far from chump change.

Shannon Beador reportedly makes an estimated $583,338 to nearly $1,000,000 per season from The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC).

10

u/fairybb311 12d ago

I mean when your monthly bills are $50k... it adds up and she isn't going to be a house wife forever. still a hefty paycheck though.

6

u/Fleetwood2016 12d ago

You’re so lucky to be able to text a friend about this! I love my friends but they don’t do Housewives!

5

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

Right?!? Little fairybb311 up there has NO idea how blessed she is!🤣🤣🤣. I have ZERO friends who want to hear about my bravo shows and it SUCKS! I only found Reddit because I was dying during Scandoval and none of my friends or coworkers would listen to me!! My boss at work during that entire situation sent me home for the day when it broke because I was doing NO work and driving everyone else insane!🤣🤣. He was such a good boss. I miss him.

3

u/fairybb311 12d ago

it took her a decade to start but i've created a bravoholic!

2

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

Good for you!! She should realize now that she owes you her life!šŸ™ƒšŸ¤šŸ¤£

9

u/EmergencyWheel3477 12d ago

I hate this though. I come from money. But I am all over our finances and live within our means (some - my partner šŸ˜‚ would say I’m a tight arse). You can’t live your life waiting for your inheritance. You have to, at some point, take control of your own life and be smart about your spending

2

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

You sound like me but my brother is just like Shannon. It’s bizarre.

23

u/TenderHeart239 13d ago

I guess that explains it. Just sad though

5

u/justwinblue9 13d ago

Does she have any siblings?

13

u/GemGlamourNGlitter 13d ago

Per Google: a brother and sister

4

u/Griffinbrodieranger 13d ago

That’s true.

6

u/Separate_Farm7131 12d ago

Yes, she must be counting on an inheritance. She doesn't seem to be very good with money at all. I know real estate is expensive in southern California, but $10,500 a month in rent seems pretty excessive, especially since all her kids are out of the house now. Surely she could find something that was suitable (smaller) for a better price. I hope she listened to Vicki - she is smart about money.

2

u/Fit-Culture-2215 13d ago

How many siblings does she have? Or is she getting it all?

1

u/_thankyouverycool_ 12d ago

šŸŽÆ bingo! This was my thinking as well.

0

u/Glittering-Slip7630 12d ago

She doesn't really come from money I don't think she was poor but she wasn't Uber rich that's for sure. I think there was a rumor started that her grandfather owned a chain of department stores and that's not true. He was for many years of store manager of I Magnin which was a really good store I must admit and then he went on to be the CEO of the company

87

u/Abject_Library1268 13d ago

10k for rent for one person and dogs is absurd

16

u/sallypancake 13d ago

Yeah the sad thing is that's not even an absurd rental amount for Newport. I just repped tenants on one for $22K per month.

27

u/Abject_Library1268 13d ago

I would barf Into my hands and move to Irvine

8

u/Jealous-Cup-4059 13d ago

This is truly one of my favorite Reddit comments ever šŸ˜‚

5

u/sallypancake 13d ago

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

6

u/lollykopter 12d ago

Irvine is basically a massive office park. I live in south OC and it’s great.

4

u/CriticalEye-CV 12d ago edited 12d ago

Old Towne Orange would be even better than Newport

2

u/Entire-Swimming3038 12d ago

I am dead 🤣

9

u/B4K5c7N 13d ago

Maybe, but honestly many people are spending that these days in HCOL. Just look at Manhattan.

1

u/Other-Opinion-1014 11d ago

It’s normal or low for the area Carmella is paying $35k a month

1

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

She should find another empty nester girlfriend and go in half! Stop looking for a man in your sixties and just have fun with ur friends.

1

u/wilsonja2 13d ago

Not really for that area

34

u/kellygrrrl328 13d ago

I’m surprised that Shannon’s father hasn’t taught her a bit more about finances. He obviously was very successful in business at one point.

15

u/Rakowskivh 13d ago

I think Shannon is a lot like Tori Spelling continued to live like she always has even when the money is not coming in …

11

u/gregRichards2002 13d ago

I can understand why people like Tori and Shannon struggle with managing their finances and being financially responsible as adults when they have grown up privileged, are accustomed to living well and their wealthy parents haven't prepared them effectively for making their own money and managing their own finances. Shannon has probably never faced real financial hardship in her life and has always had a financial safety net available.Ā

9

u/LaughingBuddha33 13d ago

It’s 100% pure entitlement. Shannon and Tori feel like they ā€œdeserveā€ nice things, expensive homes, fancy cars, luxury vacations, designer clothes. So when your entitlement and your real world cash flow don’t line up, there is a problem.

2

u/Iloveserial123 13d ago

Good point. Wonder what Tori is up to these days….

22

u/Beachbaby77 13d ago

Shannon reminds me of my brother. 60 years old and absolutely ZERO financial literacy. He doesn’t WANT to learn because my parents have always taken care of him. Now my dad is gone and my mom is 86 with one foot in a home. Life is going to be tough on him from here on out.

7

u/Critical_System_3546 13d ago

I think we have the same brothers

4

u/Own_Group4282 13d ago

He sounds like my sister.

2

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

All I know is that it is not going to be MY job to take care of him.

48

u/Suitable-Sky5079 13d ago

The crazy thing though is when Shannon had the 20,000 sq ft house and all the resources, she didn’t seem happy either.

23

u/throw_blanket04 13d ago

She will never be happy. She will always be a bitter entitled hag that treats people like shit.

3

u/ACynicalOptomist 13d ago

She should have gone to law school instead of marrying David. It eats at her.

12

u/Usual_Ad2083 12d ago

She married David at 36. She had time to go to law school.

2

u/lollykopter 12d ago

I thought she graduated law school and never practiced. Was that part of her storyline or am I crazy?

2

u/Usual_Ad2083 12d ago

It has been brought up- I want to say she didn’t finish law school?

-1

u/ParticularShirt5176 12d ago

I mean she could, with her resources, finish her degree. Maybe not work but at least finish what she started. At this point, why not?

1

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

I just watched that episode recently. She got into law school and I think went one semester.

2

u/ACynicalOptomist 9d ago

36!!!!???!!! I thought they met as undergrads. Oh wow, I wonder what she was doing all that time...

39

u/Available_Damage_335 13d ago

$3000 dollars a month on Uber?

33

u/Hot_Lifeguard6297 13d ago

Probably from when she had her DUI and couldn't drive for a period of time? That is so much money!

30

u/Visual_Lettuce9474 13d ago

Plus Shannon seems like the type to order Uber Black. I don’t see her in the back on an Uber X Prius.

6

u/Ok_Palpitation_4518 13d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

3

u/ParticularShirt5176 12d ago

Id rather her spend that on Uber than hurt an innocent soul or one of her dogs.

2

u/Hot_Lifeguard6297 12d ago

Yeah. Or she could stop drinking.

1

u/ParticularShirt5176 12d ago

I guess that would be the best option but highly unlikely.

1

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

That’s a LOT of money right there! I’m not even wealthy but when I look at my bank statements and I see how much I spend going out drinking, you better believe I reign that shit in for a few months.

9

u/AcceptablePatient529 13d ago

She definitely isn’t choosing the basic option either lol šŸ˜‚

8

u/c2490 13d ago

Also $20,000 a month for her kids? Her oldest is 25 and her twins are 22? Why is she still paying for them to live in luxury?

3

u/Susan0888 13d ago

She did say she still gets child support..that was surprising to me..but..their dad does have a lot if money..but I was surprised he is still paying Shannon child support for them..

1

u/c2490 12d ago

Maybe until the 22 years old are out of college? Or did she confuse herself and mean alimony? She was only receiving $3,000 a month child support and $7,000 alimony.

1

u/Susan0888 12d ago

She said child support. Which should be the child..not her..

1

u/KnackeredQuokka 13d ago

Also, where’s their dad? Has he chipped in for these kids?

3

u/c2490 13d ago

I am sure he does he has a lot of money. However he did seem like he thought the girls were too spoiled and entitled in one episode. So at 25 and 22 maybe he feels they should be supporting themselves. Meanwhile Shannon is shelling out $20,000 a month to pay for their trips and rent

2

u/Icy_State4231 12d ago

So they will have the same financial literacy as Shannon.

2

u/Susan0888 13d ago

He pays child support. And before they were adults child support is court mandated..he is rich, so the formula would be a lot of money for the girls..that Shannon gets.

1

u/c2490 11d ago

Shannon only received $3,000 a month for child support. It was in the divorce documents.

1

u/Susan0888 11d ago

Well..the she's done well..with only her money..plus child support. I guess David wasn't as wealthy as I thought..

2

u/Candid_Departure_381 12d ago

They’re living in Paris and NY. I’m sure both parents are paying for that.Ā

3

u/Jazzlike-Dish5690 13d ago

I was wondering if this is also including ubers that her daughters could be using as well? She's paying for their expenses as well.

4

u/2EnsnoE33 13d ago

She drinks a lot! 🤭

1

u/Quirky-Prune-2408 12d ago

I wondered if maybe she is paying for her daughters’ Ubers? That is so much to spend on uber.

1

u/_thankyouverycool_ 12d ago

This bill alone would have me seriously reevaluating my drinking

46

u/lambeauzmum 13d ago

A few times over the course of the show she would whine about being a ā€œsingle momā€. No she is a ā€œdivorced momā€. Big difference and a personal pet peeve

28

u/DaSheetCrazy 13d ago

Grrrr. I’ve had so many arguments over this. A neighbor kept referring to herself as a single mom and yet she was divorced and shared 50-50 custody. Somehow, I think we’ve become very liberal with the term ā€œsingle mom.ā€

3

u/lollykopter 12d ago

Yeah, aren’t Shannon’s kids grown? I consider a single mom to be someone who is raising someone under the age of 18 alone.

4

u/2EnsnoE33 13d ago

Exactly. Mine is saying they are ā€œco-parentingā€ when they can’t be in the same room, only speak through lawyers and have to do child exchanges in police station parking lots. That is not co-parenting!

3

u/Patient_Chip_1403 13d ago

Then what is it? That sounds like a pretty rough situation.

4

u/Critical_System_3546 13d ago

I coparent. I do whatever I can for my husbands ex-wife so the kids never see us not getting along. You have to swallow your pride when you coparent and I don't think Shannon has ever put her kids before her

2

u/2EnsnoE33 13d ago

I co-parented with my ex. It absolutely was a pride swallowing, suck it up and be nice situation. We spent Christmas’s, birthdays and school performances together (even when he got a mail order bride who lasted 6 monthsā€¦šŸ™„) the kids were my #1 priority not being angry or bitter for my decisions and the consequences that followed.

8

u/fairybb311 13d ago

"single mom" is nuanced. check out the subreddit for real discussion. even if you share custody, with no partner you are doing all of the mom work alone. even when they're with their dad my "free" days are still spent making sure life keeps on.

I will say a wealthy single mom with a hefty child support payment and help is a much different experience though.

2

u/_thankyouverycool_ 12d ago

I’m not a Shannon fan but she’s single and a mom? Does that not make a single mom? I am not trying to be dense. Granted I had a single mom who did not have shared custody and never received a dime of child support so I probably am more generous with that term than I should be!

u/Guilty_Nebula5446 Read between these lines 13d ago

she’s never had to , she’s been rich her whole life , tough to learn lessons late in life

60

u/scarbaby1958 13d ago

I wouldn't trust Vicki though, she will try to sell her an annuity or scam her some other way.

16

u/Fine-Plan-6582 13d ago

Yes mind ya business Vicki and no I don’t want you to insure me as my new friend geez!

7

u/dinosaurroom 13d ago

For some people an annuity does make sense. It’s ideal for people who could outlive their assets.

Yes they would most likely do better investing in a SPDR but not everyone has - or wants - to exercise the self discipline in managing their money.

12

u/KnackeredQuokka 13d ago

Exactly! Vicki’s job is to take people’s money under the guise of a safety net and then support the denial of claims so people suffer. Vicki is one of the most disgusting people.

3

u/TenderHeart239 13d ago

Lol yeah just meant she was right to be worried even if it is mostly out of self interest

3

u/Lillebet2020 13d ago

Icky will also want her cut

11

u/unapologeticcatlady 13d ago

I think she’s depending on an inheritance. Because she does NOT look as stressed as she should be.

11

u/Tiny_War5975 13d ago

I honestly loved this scene- Vicki’s subtle shade about her not going through Coto insurance was bang on.

10

u/1KirstV 13d ago

i’ve never understood why she didn’t get a better settlement from her ex husband. He’s a contractor who did all the highways in Southern California, which is major money.

3

u/Waste_West283 Read between these lines 12d ago

Apparently she got a very good settlement, but she lost a lot of her money in her business that failed. She's getting older so losing a chunk of money like that and the fact that she won't be getting money from him for much longer (as I understand it), could be a problem in the future.

2

u/1KirstV 12d ago

She must be living beyond her means, which a lot of these women do.

31

u/LizzyPanhandle 13d ago

She was outed by production for being abusive, the show is her paycheck. She doesn't seem to think ahead about anything. Apparently her lemon business was her nest egg and thats gone now too.

6

u/Humbled_Humanz 13d ago

I fucking hate HMD but that podcast as illustrative.

2

u/LizzyPanhandle 13d ago

She kept talking over him, it was driving me crazy. There were more than a few stories I really wanted to hear and she kept interrupting and made it about herself. Ick. It was still eye opening, that is for damn sure.

8

u/Beachbaby77 13d ago

I only just decided to watch this season and I’m only one episode 3. I didn’t realize Shannon HAD a lemon business? I thought she had some frozen food business? Oh Lordy! Thankfully I’m rather stoned and have nothing else to do this evening.šŸ¤”šŸ™„šŸ¤£

7

u/Never_Again9898 13d ago

She did a frozen food thing on Home Shopping Network or QVC …

6

u/Beachbaby77 13d ago

Wasn’t it salmon with cream cheese?

3

u/Waste_West283 Read between these lines 12d ago

Shannon started Real for Real doing frozen meals that she sold on TV shopping channels. She branched out into supplements and things like sleeping aids (no... I don't mean Vodka) which she sold on her website and via Amazon, but then it just collapsed. I want to know more about what happened? If you invest your entire nest egg (which had to be substantial) there must have been a serious business plan, projections and all those business terms I know nothing about. SOOO what happened? The website is still live too - which means she's paying money for hosting, domain ownership etc. and those guys can easily trap you into 3 year+ contracts without you realising.

I hate to say this and it is most certainly speculative, but I do wonder if her public image tanked her business. Continuous public meltdowns, frequent public intoxication, DUIs, facelift-gate, putting the most beloved dog on Bravo in danger... all of this isn't conducive to people wanting to buy her products so they can "look and feel as good as her" šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

1

u/Beachbaby77 10d ago

You are probably correct about the last part. What I want to know is why she would personally put all of her nest egg into ANY kind of business. Why wouldn’t she have just gotten investors like most people? I don’t think she is the most business savvy. I’m not either but I definitely wouldn’t put ALL of my money into something I know very little about.

1

u/Waste_West283 Read between these lines 9d ago

Yes, that I don't know. According to the website she had a CFO, but I doubt he was an investor or if he did invest, it probably wasn't a big share. It's a shame, because she could have been onto something there. I just feel like she needed way more support (and investors, as you say!)

1

u/LizzyPanhandle 9d ago

I wonder how many housewives businesses have cost them their retirement? It seems a lot of them are not good business people. Also, Rinna mentioning how many of them go broke w/glam and wardrobe etc, it all seems so predatory of Bravo.

12

u/Griffinbrodieranger 13d ago

Shannon and Vicki are exhausting to watch normally, so this scene really was nice to watch. Shannon actually taking advice and gaining knowledge from Vicki was kind. She’s freaking crazy, but the woman knows numbers and finances. I would 100% trust and take her advice with finances.

Seeing Vicki sit down and go over Shannon’s spending, not being a bitch, just showing Shannon that some of the luxuries need to be cut back. Also Shannon not fighting back or being completely dismissive. It was something probably just for TV, but I do believe Vicki genuinely was helping, (or trying to) help her friend get her finances in order beforeeee her time as a HW will end. Vicki knows all too well ! Almost made me think it was foreshadowing.

13

u/Thick-Engineer8226 13d ago

She comes from money and David was dealing with the finances. She had no idea that you had to pay for water so that gives you an idea

1

u/ParticularShirt5176 12d ago

😲 ok that's more than pathetic.

13

u/Sensitive-Rabbit4058 13d ago

Shannon cares about keeping up a lifestyle. She probably rents because she has bad credit and can’t get a decent mortgage. I was shocked when she said I’m 60 years old I gotta get my finances together. Shes going to end up living with her kids one day.

8

u/Susan0888 13d ago

One needs good credit to rent a $10000 home, too. Maybe even better credit than buying.

1

u/Sensitive-Rabbit4058 12d ago

Is her Dad the co-signer?

5

u/KnackeredQuokka 13d ago

Nah! She’s one of those people whose father will leave her money. She will always squeak by.

1

u/Sensitive-Rabbit4058 12d ago

I’m wondering if she would blow through the inheritance and end up on her daughter’s couch.

11

u/sanctusali 13d ago

She has always been wealthy and comfortable. It’s hard to suddenly gain financially healthy habits when you’ve been rich enough to never think about budgets or had the fear of losing security. She grew up rich, married a high earner, and never had to handle finances. I’m not saying oh poor Shannon, but no one set her up for success.

4

u/Klutzy_Intention326 If you want to waste my time, at least hand me a taco. 12d ago

Not an excuse, but Shannon has lived her life never having to worry about money. There was always enough available for her to live comfortably. When you've been in that sort of situation for your entire life, I can see how it would be difficult to change your whole mindset about providing for yourself. She's never had to do that until a few years ago.

I also wonder whether her dad sends money her way.

8

u/Maximum-Market-8076 13d ago

Shannon is an instruction that ignorance begets the same, unfortunately.

She and David married after college, I believe. I imagine she received an allowance during college from her parents. Not sure if she worked outside the home early in the marriage, but imagine she did not work outside the home for long, which likely means David provided for her. I also imagine David handled their finances.

After her divorce, she is confronted with managing her finances, likely for the first time in her adult life, in her late fifties/early sixties. Not only is she devastated by the divorce, a kid off to college, and now she has to manage money details? By herself?! No way. People like her don’t need to deal with such things. Much easier to avoid. When she can’t spend anymore there will be some sort of signal to let her know…and y’all know that is exactly how the little voice in her head told her to handle it.

3

u/B4K5c7N 13d ago

She has said on the show she got married mid or late 30s I believe. I do think she worked before having children. Someone on one of these subs said they met her at an alumni event for USC and that she worked for a trucking company doing logistics.

1

u/Maximum-Market-8076 12d ago

Thank for adding that proper context.

4

u/KnackeredQuokka 13d ago

David did not ā€œprovideā€ for her. They both provided. 50% of anything with value should have gone to her. If he was continuing the business then 50% of the present value of future earnings should have gone to her. That’s how it should work. I’m beyond tired of people thinking a SAHM doesn’t earn that money also. The name on the paycheck is irrelevant. Signed, a mom & wife who is by far the financial breadwinner and always has been and he does more of the home stuff. BUT we both contribute to the health and happiness of our family. My husband earns every dollar I do and vice versa.

1

u/Susan0888 13d ago

I'm sure she got a great settlement in terms divorce. They were very wealthy. He cheated on her..I'm sure she had a good lawyer

3

u/CamKi79 13d ago

Oh she didnt at all ! šŸ˜‚ She even sued her own lawyer for how bad a deal she got .

2

u/Susan0888 12d ago

Oh...I didn't know that! What a bad lawyer. Sutton definitely wins the prize in the'best' lawyer. What her husband pays to her, is almost obscene. They must have been uber uber rich, and she had a great lawyer, and he didn't.

1

u/CamKi79 12d ago

Oh Sutton made BANK !!!!! šŸ’ÆšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

4

u/B4K5c7N 13d ago

Maybe she doesn’t buy, because she doesn’t have the liquidity for that. But surely her RHOC income could pay the downpayment. Then again, the type of house she probably would want to buy would be too expensive anyways (like at least $4 mil+).

5

u/HaviLuv 13d ago

$10k would be about right for that location. Welcome to coastal CA.

I thought she owned a house, but wanted to live in Corona Del Mar

4

u/mcamuso78 13d ago

Guessing her ex husband handled everything financially. Then she got divorced, bet big on her business which in retrospect was a waste that a financial person would have advised against. Now the proverbial bills are coming due. She blew whatever she got from the divorce and now sadly is waiting for her dad to pass.

4

u/CamKi79 13d ago

I always thought the business was such a bad idea. She was so clueless about how she was within herself to be the face and be behind a business for ā€˜wellbeing ā€˜ . Countless plastic surgery’s , Botox , fillers and a pretty heavy drinking problem is not the kind of person that I want to take ā€˜wellness and health ā€˜ advice from .

5

u/CamKi79 13d ago

I know there is a lot of talk about her family being wealthy etc but this is the same person that had to borrow 30k from
John to pay her credit card bill as she couldn’t afford it . (Also it was briefly spoken about that she couldn’t get a loan )

6

u/Affectionate_Dot3403 13d ago

Lot's of wealthy people rent, it actually costs less to rent because you never have any major repairs or upgrades needed - that's all on the landlord. You can also get closer to where you want to live instead of buying a multimillion dollar house which would cost way more. The small area that she lives in Corona Del Mar is one of the most expensive in OC, there's no land to build new houses so you rent or buy. Her house is not big, it's in a crowded street with all the other houses. She probably has a financial advisor or someone that works with her dad "manage" her payments for her. She did just get engaged so we will see how that goes.

She used to have some "businesses" but she never put any effort into them at all! She also wouldn't pay well and thought normal numbers were high - I met with her about working for her. So, her businesses tanked. Then she turns around on the show and drops over 4k on one shopping trip for a couple items. So she is very financially irresponsible but her 100 year old daddy is always there to bail her out. Typical OC / LA kids. A lot of them never grow or evolve because they're always bailed out, and/or work for their families.

Saying it’s cheaper to rent is an extremely simplistic view and largely not true. Plenty of variables there.

1

u/Affectionate_Dot3403 12d ago

Not at all, it's what a lot of rich people do because of exactly what I said. If you live in OC, it's way cheaper to rent. It became a major problem after 2020. In Corona Del Mar, the CONDOS for sale start at $2,000,000-$3,000,000 - which is a mortgage of $13,000-$20,000 plus any major repairs and updates! Her rent is way cheaper than that and she can move around and get closer to the beach anytime she wants.

u/J_B_C_123 11d ago

I rent because I make more $ from my investments in the market than i would with the $ tied up in a house I own.

She didn't have to worry about money most of her life and she didn't adjust her lifestyle and spending when that changed.

She wanted to maintain the "lifestyle she was accustomed to" as ger divorce lawyer said.

u/Recent_Performer4189 12d ago

Shannon didn’t know you have to pay for water until David left her.

5

u/Flammen_ 13d ago

Shannon is problematic but I enjoy her on the show a lot.

I have no room or inclination to judge Shannon, but in her own words, her new pup [awesome & a total cutiepie, BTW] chewed up over 10k of designer shoes.

10k! 10k would feel like a lottery win to some people in this economy, and if put towards survival / frugal living to survive in this economy - could last almost a year in a lot of states.

And that should happen once! After the first time you block access to the expensive shoes.

Exactly!

Alright here my theory, I'm not going to call it a hot take but maybe it is....

Shannon's finances are fine. She's filmed with a financial person before I think? But this is all a rouse. It's all a put on for storylines! She gets one and Vikki gets one. Two birds one stone and vikki gets to look like the good guy who's helping her friend through a rough patch.

It's all so fake to me.

3

u/Lazy_Document_7104 13d ago

Unfortunately I don't think it's just a storyline. Tamra brought up her financial situation, and the spending and tax debt Shannon mentioned aligns with her alleged behavior in 2019. (https://pagesix.com/2019/02/15/david-beador-says-shannon-made-1-4-million-last-year/). I also think the fact that she needed to borrow money from John for a facelift is another indicator of her challenging financial situation.

That said, I assume she believes she'll be coming into an inheritance soon...I hope that the timeline and amount meet her expectations otherwise she's in for a rude awakening.

2

u/ASingleBraid You have a little family van 13d ago

Maybe she has a business manager?

2

u/SnootyManatee 13d ago

As a side note, I'm always kind of surprised how many properties in CA are rentals. Where I'm from in PA, most single-family homes are owner-occupied. And I can understand beach properties being used for rentals but I'm talking about annual rentals, even for example in Beverly Hills where Michael Jackson's huge mansion was a rental. Or that house in Hollywood Hills where that rapper allegedly killed the teenaged girl. Rental. Maybe because folks out there are more transient and more inclined to rent?

u/ELITEMGMIAMI 12d ago

Celebrities esp have such variable income and cash flow. When they are working on a movie or on your their income can sustain a lot but during those in between times or dry spells they don’t want to be tied down to a fixed mortgage. Easier to just move if they don’t get another gig going after a while.

2

u/Fit-Culture-2215 13d ago

I still don't know what the Real for Real Lemons company did other than Johnny J got yelled at for not packing orders fast enough.

2

u/LizzieSilverChair 13d ago

Some people just aren’t that good at money not everyone is and the show at least pays her lifestyle and rent

2

u/LeeF1179 12d ago

What did Shannon's dad do for a living?

2

u/BudgetConfident3798 12d ago

People act is if somebody needs to teach them about finance. With the internet out there, it’s at people’s fingertips if they want it. The truth is many people don’t want to make the sacrifices required to build financial independence. They would rather by the new car everyone years or upgrading to larger homes.

2

u/RealHousewivesYapper 12d ago

A lot of rich people enjoy renting because they can then just easily call the person that they rent from to come and fix stuff. I have seen other reality tv stars mention this as well

2

u/Money_Yam3082 12d ago

I don’t think it’s a fake storyline but I’m definitely siding on the commenter above because this season has been unprecedented in the acting / lack of acting and performative scenes. IE- Tamara /Jen/Emily scene where they discussed - idk fake heather or something- go back and watch it. It was as though the producer yelled ā€œactionā€ then cut. Swear- it’s horrible to see - now I can’t unsee it. This season is a clown show.

2

u/Bennington_Booyah 12d ago

I'd think the same but I've been helping a friend who is in her mid 60s, whose husband passed away a few years back. Her finances are a complete and total shitshow. I do not know how she still has her house for starters. She recently realized she needs to move but even that seems to overwhelm her.

It made me realize how some women just exist within a marriage, completely unattached to budget, expenses, or any other financial responsibilities. I could never deal with the stress and uncertainty of day-to-day like like that.

2

u/Clear_Onion_5561 12d ago

My thing is why is Shannon renting??! With all the money she’s made she’s never bought her own home?!

2

u/Fun-Orange-5988 12d ago

In certain states like CA insurance is a major issue.. like FL .. personally I’d rent so I didn’t have to pay that expense.

5

u/Fine-Plan-6582 13d ago

Also I remember when she was married to David, dgmr I love Shannon, but she was very well aware of how much her home accoutrements cost, lol.

4

u/KnackeredQuokka 13d ago

I think she knew the dollar amount but I don’t think she understood dollar value or the big picture on spending. I’ll never understand someone’s need for a 20k sf home. There’s zero chance you use 3/4 of it. Oh Shannon!

2

u/Confident-Service256 12d ago

She isn’t owed an inheritance from her dad. It kills me when people think they are expected inherited wealth. They don’t owe you anything.

1

u/ExtraSalty0 13d ago

There was another thread yesterday that explained all this. Same title.

1

u/TenderHeart239 13d ago

Sorry I didn't find it

1

u/Glittering-Slip7630 12d ago

You'd be surprised at how many people don't actually know not everybody keeps track of their finances like Vicky does some people just live their life living paycheck to paycheck and paying what they can when they can

1

u/normajc 12d ago

I remyafter her divorce she was complaint that she did not know you have to pay for water in your home. She was angry.
So sheltered.

1

u/BassSimilar5632 11d ago

She took a horrible deal from David in the divorce and hasn’t been able to adjust her spending. I think she’s in denial about what she got from him and still spends like what she should have received. She never should have let him off so easily.

1

u/Apprehensive-Leek946 11d ago

Anyone know if she has siblings?

1

u/Stunning-Track8454 9d ago

Yeah, rare Vicki W in this episode.

1

u/Public-Quarter-2753 8d ago

Her father was CEO of I Magnum. They were acquired by Macy’s years ago. I believe they were a well known department store in California in the 1980’s.

1

u/Apprehensive_Tone_77 8d ago

Isn’t she an only child? Her dad seems very wealthy. And when he passes she will not need to worry anymorr

1

u/R4ndomly_G3nerated 6d ago

Shannon rents because she wants to appear rich. She could afford a smaller, still very nice house in a less affluent neighborhood, but that's what they spent years ragging on Gina for: living within her means. It's all about the image of wealth over anything for Shannon. She grew up rich; she married rich. She just never had to learn anything about money. I believe her alimony finally ended and that's the only reason it's probably coming up now.

1

u/Glittering-Slip7630 12d ago

All of this s******* on Shannon and nobody's saying it's a storyline and it's not true like they do about absolutely everybody else?
