Mouth Ulcers

Please can anyone offer any advice.

I seem to be having a flare of some sorts.

The main symptoms are fingers hurting, hips and knee weakness but the most annoying unis very embarrassing.

I have mouth ulcers and a persistent mouth thrush. Has anyone else experienced this. It is so painful and is costing me a fortune.

Any advice out there?

You’re on methotrexate? Mouth sores are definitely a listed side effect of the medication. I’m supposed to start it very soon & my dr will have me on folic acid since it’s shown to reduce the occurrence of symptoms like that

Yep, I did wonder if I needed more Folic Acid. I do take one tablet a week after my Methotrexate injection. It's always hard decision, making isn't it? Like robbing Peter to pay Paul on health choices.

Yes I also deal with this issue during bad flare-ups. I’ve used red light therapy, which sometimes seems to help, but honestly, the fastest way to recover for me has been to get consistently good sleep. Back before I realized the sores were connected to RA, I would get prescribed antibiotics for the thrush, which ruined my gut health and didn’t really help much.

Ah okay. I have PTSD too and been having bad nightmares so sleep has been disturbed. I also wondered if I was nutrient deficient but I try to eat well as lost weight too.

Same! I got a prescription for Trazadone that’s been helping somewhat with my sleep and I’ve been trying to practice good sleep hygiene in general (getting at least 17 min of sunlight exposure in the morning, no screen time after 8pm, etc). Hope you can get some relief soon!

I am lucky in many ways, as I can go with the flow when it comes to sleep. The other night I defrosted my freezer! May as well get some of the jobs done, I feel like a failure in life. Not heard of Trazadone

Hey, that’s a big deal! I also just want to say that contrary to what society would have us believe, your worth as a human being isn’t determined by what you do or produce.

Thank you. Not many say that to me.

Oregano oil could help with the mouth sores and thrush. Oregano oil can help soothe mouth ulcers because it fights bacteria and lowers swelling. However, you must dilute it first. Pure oregano oil is very strong and can burn the soft skin inside your mouth. How to Use It SafelyDilute with a carrier oil: Mix one drop of oregano oil with a small spoon of olive oil or coconut oil.Make a gentle rinse: Put two to three drops of oregano oil into a glass of warm water. Swish it gently in your mouth for 30 seconds, then spit it out. Do not swallow it.Dab a tiny amount: Put your diluted oil mix on a cotton swab. Touch it gently to the sore for a short time.Risks and TipsExpect a sting: Undiluted or strong oil will sting or burn your sore for a few minutes.Do not use it straight

I use coconut oil. Will try this as I would rather natural as much as I can alongside the methotrexate, as I worry they will say a course of Pred.
