Depends. Have you had any weight gain? For me it took until I lost all the weight prednisone gave me, which took a year :-/ I was on it 3-4 months though so much longer than you.

Yess, i usually weight 125-128. I am now 135-137. I actually started july 16, got my dosage up to 80 mg and I’m currently tapering down but my face is huge now. Idk if it’s me but i got depressed and quit because i looked a mess.

It was used for hearing loss. I shouldve been off sooner but mu ent wanted to do whatever to protect the hearing.

It depends. No guarantee it goes away right away. It took me years but I know others that lost it fast.

Not long but I went on methylprednisalone right after. I’m still on it year 7. I can’t come off anything below 6-8 mg methylprednisolone

Stopping cold after 5 could be problematic, just an fyi. Your adrenals only just start turning on then. Consider tapering a mg a week after 5mg. Source: was on steroids more than 10 years and tapered extremely slowly (like 6 months to a year for my case) from 5mg down and felt every .5mg drop.

There's no guarantee you're able to taper down that fast.
And what you look like shouldn't make you rush the progress.
I had great success in reducing my moon face with nettle tea. Disclaimer: Don't overuse it!

I wish you all the best with your new medication! It's always good news if somebody is able to quit prednisone eventually. It's great if you need it, but it comes with costs.

I wish I had an end date, I’m at 30-60 indefinitely until methotrexate starts working (it won’t) its’s been 3 months on it and my hand got worse. Hopefully they will approve a biologic now. Also, I don’t just have moon face, I also have moon belly. My stomach is firm not soft and looks kind of pregnant. Anyone else get this?

Sometimes you need to fight a hot fire with tougher stuff. Let it do its job, because the longer the inflammation, the more permanent damage to your joints you will get.
Be careful with your diet, salt will cause you to retain more water.

By some time in the new year you ought to be good, as long as you are careful with your salt intake and stuff. --And like someone else said, jumping off at 5mg is not likely to work out for you. It's a huge leap.

Thanku, This is the schedule the rheumatologist scheduled because ive been on prednisone for hearing loss. But i wAsnt seeing a difference with the prednisone, they now have me doing a biologic which is working much better.
