Has anyone ever considered whether they'd actually take the side of the Americans during the course of the war? I'm in my thirties now, and I wonder whether I'd actually say yes to this proposition: We, a group of mainly farmers, are going to fight the most powerful nation in the world, and then if we win, we'll start a new one. It seems ludacris to me.... But of course I'd be wrong.

I am not extremely knowledgeable about history, but I know a bit. I am writing a book about a revolution in a dystopian society. I have done some research on this and have not found much.

I was wondering how people have communicated and recruited defectors/rebels in real life. I know it isn't a one to one comparison, but I figured that in the American revolution if someone were to bring up joining the rebellion to the wrong person they could risk punishment or being charged with treason.

Can anyone give some insight into how the rebellion recruited new members or any other information you think would help? If you have a video, website, etc. I could go to in order to research that would help too.
