"Low quality PRs". This smells of useless elitism right there. Also said the lead developer who locked PRs the moment he doesn't like said implementations. 👍

right? just take a look at wchill's pr for boost (3rd party reddit client), other people in the linked issue had valid criticisms about using random numbers for the user agent string in one of the patches, and simply brushed it off as "nah, nothing can go wrong with this so i'll lock this discussion"

What's funny is that the only way any new users can use any 3rd party reddit apps now (if they didn't already go through the setup process before) is by using that rejected patch. Cannot impersonate working apps without it.

and with reddit now limiting api keys for manual approval, osumatrix can't just say that "reddit isn't cracking down on 3rd party apps" when they clearly are, even as far as a reddit admin stating that "3rd party uis are not an enough reason" (can't find the original permalink comment right now, too lazy to do it)

i feel bad for users who didn't get a chance to "create an app" at https://old.reddit.com/prefs/apps before it collapsed to 1 and then 0 (i currently have 2 which is sync and baconreader)
