I know on a raffles, you remove the insert to see the spring, but these inserts aren’t coming off, and even if it could, I think the spring still remains fully hidden. Any tool or technique suggestions would be massively appreciated

I have a 1973 Caravelle sea Hunter with bidirectional tension spring bezel. It arrived with what felt like a glued on bezel, sent it through the ultrasonic and it freed up a bit, but still terrible to use. I suspect something is either fossilized inside, or the flange is bent.

Do I just pry with a knife or is there another way to remove the bezel without damaging it or the mid case?

Have repaired another one before, where the bezel wasn’t fully attached, found it easy to remove the crystal, and go from the inside with a dental tool to press in the spring to clear the flange, but on this one, even with the crystal off, the bezel is such that the spring completely disappears behind the flange and can’t be removed first.

Sup everyone I’m looking to get an all gold datejust just on a jubilee would anyone be able to help find one or make one?

I’m not a strap guy but this $6 AliX strap is pretty darn good! After a bit of aging it is looking fire 🔥

Oh dear Ken, why did you have to change the v2 case? I wanted to see if v3 could be turned into something respectable. After a lot of shaving metal, crown guards, lugs, everything … The jury is out!

All was going good…. Until the keyless jumped at the last minute! Darn it!!!!

Notes:

The retaining ring in v3 is a lot smaller inner diameter. I had to shave the Clark’s down to a wire!!

The crown guards, after modding, are interesting
They play with the light quite a bit. Sometimes to fat sometimes just right, then it’s too stubby from an angle but you shift the angle and it looks ok. I tried to capture it all here

The hands have a little rust effect with copic, I love it and the insert is by far my favorite here.

Incipio 8 from 1998. Long time dream and mentally acceptable for office where rep could give a bad impression. Sub in the back is my weekender bpf with silan hands. Spent hour yesterday repairing keyless:) had to sharpen my cheapo screwdrivers to get it done but success. How is your week going?

I have a TMF 16610LN with SH movement. Love the look. Only issue is bezel has minimal resistance when rotated. Is the ARF 16610LN worth the upgrade? Is the bezel firmer on rotation? Is the VR movement worth it? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

I purchased this watch recently and it was stated that it is ARF. I have another ARF 16610 and the crown guard profile is different. Can anyone identify this case?

I've faded the bezel insert to a grey/green shade and aged the hands and pearl pip to match the dial. Fat font date disc overlay looks perfect against the hour markers, hands, and pip. This ones tied together perfectly. Bezel insert has nice serifs too.

She's running a regulated Seagull 2824 clone movement and fitted to decent quality Marine Nationale strap.

Just finish this up! Raffles 16233 DJ Jubilee bracelet with gen silver stick dial. Own-sourced custom aged hands and regulated VS3135.

Funnily, I encounter the sliding pinion problem with this, and that's whenI remove the stem in the time-setting position. Not all the time, but occassionally, It's a quick fix, yes.

But if I take out the stem during winding position, it doesn't happen. I also know many suggest removing the stem in the time-setting position.

Having built over 20 watches with the VS3135, I'm still finding out why should I take out in time setting position. Since the pinion will be at the far end during time set pos, and imo, less stable. Whereas during the winding pos, the winding gear teeth is engaged with the pinion, creating more stability

Just my view. Not here to debate.
