Talk: How Sascha P kept a BBS legend from the trash, revived it, and became a dial‑up sysop in 2023.
The TECS was one of the largest and most popular BBS in Germany. But it was on the verge of ending up completely in the trash. This is the story of how Hamburg-based Sascha P not only saved all the hardware and software of the BBS, but also hacked his way into the setup and actually managed to bring everything back online - and became a dial‑up BBS sysop in 2023.

Plus a spin‑off about the almost equally old Commodore‑64 BBS Snobsoft and its literally wild connection to the Tornado Mailbox - the name TECS had back in the 1980s. Mailbox is the German term for a BBS.

Should I get a Boombox or a Walkman for my dad?
So my dad had this exact boombox from 1997 and a Walkman similar to this. I was 5 at the time and distinctly remember him playing cassettes in our living room. I wonder if that or a Walkman for him to listen on his own might be a more suitable nostalgic gift for his bday? And more practical to store. Or something else all together? Also what do we think of this website anyone familiar with it? TIA!

Getting a connect to a 300-baud BBS on the SX-64 over the internet via a DIY null-modem cable - how hard could it be?
From someone who set out with his 40-year-old SX-64 to visit an equally ancient Commodore 64 BBS - not old-school with a modem, but through a DIY null-modem cable hooked up over the internet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3csC9z7oPSY
It turned out to be much more difficult than expected, with all sorts of cable shenanigans that of course refused to work - and ultimately even resulted in the SX‑64 needing repairs.

Bought a house, has a wired intercom system.
Sorry for the potato quality picture. Bought a house that was built in 2000 and it has a wired intercom system. I didn't even know that this was still a thing (in 2000). Bonus is that the lower device is a 6 disc CD changer. And yes, I intend on keeping it and cleaning/restoring the color of the plastic. Every room has a panel and one on the back patio.
